You can set the speed at with cities grow, research etc in the game options when you start a new world. :)
That said, as someone who hated EL for its combat - I genuinely do not understand where you're getting the idea that the battles are the same. Even before the touching on the insane difference in unit variety.
But the same? No. If you said it is a mix of Endless Legend with Humankind with Fallen Enchantress I’d agree, but by then is a distinct enough game of any of the three.
It's basically Silmarillion.
The God is basically Eru Iluvatar, and he creates everything, and the angels are like Ainur, and then there's that fallen evil guy Lucifer who's essentially Morgoth.
I'm not sure, but it's been bothering me. It's great to pray solo, but with all those churches, priests and masses you really feel the slog. Tolkienists are much more laid back people and they have cookies.
I agree. And that's not a good thing at all. Comparing it to endless legend would be comparing honey and poop. At least comparing it with FE let it fights in its own category.
As for comparing it with previous iterations... I'll just keep it civil and say ---
If you do not mind to explain a bit. Like EL is objectively very good if a bit hard to get into it, everything is done right except for fights and if you played it a bit you'll realize that's for the good reasons.
I did not play EL that much cause it didn't grasp me... One of the reason was I expected an AoW2 like... But I have very fond memory of it and never ever heard about anyone considering it "trash", so I'm pretty curious....
But to be fair, it falls into the same pitfalls that Civ tends to have. For most people at most difficulties it's a fine and fun game, but when you really get into it, the specific demands of infrastructure/improvement/city placement are very rigid, stale, and ultimately nothing but rote and boring tedium.
It's fun at difficulties where you can play around and experiment with all sorts of different things and play your civilization how you want to play it. But you quickly realize how rigid and unforgiving optimal structure placement becomes at higher difficulties.
I think I will enjoy AW4 once I get past the graphic crashes in manual combat, will later today test the new beta.
Amazing comment
I mean we all know endless legend isnt great, but calling it poop is a bit harsh.
