This is AoW 4.
The 4th (5th if we include Planetfall which we probably should) installation of a series that has been around for over a decade.
It is only similar to TW games in that it's also a computer game.
apples oranges troll's gonna troll
I agree that TW became garbage....for me it was right after Medieval 2...
At one point was thinking of getting tw:w3...but since creative assembly just bulshited its customer base for almost a decade I stopped supporting them.
watching aow4 videos it felt like a open design game similar/better than tw game...
It's very different here, because its not fixed into a rigid IP. But you get a lot of "wanted" fantasy features that you can mishmash endlessly.
It embrace the RPG elements to its full potential.
Were you play into a dynamic world/map were power and weakness will be shifting from game to game, not only because of the maps themselves but because of the random factions and encounters, on top of the fact you can build your faction in so many ways. Even when you make sub-optimal choices, you can still adapt and change along the way and get decent results which will be satisfying.
You can customise your faction (and AI starting factions if you want) a lot more then Warhammer, not only at creation start, but during the actual game as well, you can adapt and shift focus every game.
Its very fun to play, I love it so far, I'm pleasantly surprised actually at how much I cant stop myself from playing it, its very addicting because it nails it on so many levels and there is so many ways you can build/play.
It seems that I dont get bored of my campaigns, every time I play, even when I sucked at the beginning, I still want to finish my games and lead my made-up faction to victory! And when I'm done I just cant wait to make a new faction totally different and try it out.
It has a mix of D&D/Pathfinder/Warhammer/WoW fantasy elements that will most likely get anyone's fantasy "fix".
A lot of time I find myself wishing total war campaign side was this fun, because while I do enjoy TWWH battles, the campaigns often feels missing in features, and its not as dynamic either.
This is my impression so far after like 60 hours in AoW4, and I feel I only scratched the surface, I keep finding new game features I didnt know/understand every time I play, which make me think of new possible strategy!
Thanks for the indepth explanation....it felt like a mix between heroes of might and magic/tw/ and aow3 ish...almost exactly copied over for some elements looking at aw 3 and aow4 videos...
