The section before the last, at the bottom - there you find link and paths

The only way that currently seems to work is to tell them the details so they can make them the same way.

I have not tried sharing my files with anyone else yet, but I have tried transferring my saves and rulers from one computer to another (including empire files). The game does not seem to recognize them at all.

Before that, after reinstalling the game on the other computer all my saves and rulers seemed to be gone, but I found the files were still there, and the game had made a new empire file. I am at the moment unwilling to experiment and possibly lose access to my currently available saves again.
After the update, the game on the other computer recognized the previous files again, but not on this computer.

There was such an issue where the hotfix branch was invovled. Are you using the main branch or that branch or did you mix up by accident for the different PCs?

At first I was using the hotfix, but after the Issue that prevented me from playing on my main PC was resolved, I switched to the normal branch.
That is when on the second PC where I had been playing previously the saves and rulers that were gone before reappeared. After that I wanted to continue with what I had played before and transfered the files, but on the main PC they did not work. I did try it with both the hotfix and the default branch though. Only on the PC where I first saved them do they work still.

root of this problem is that no to date has figured out where the custom rulers are actually stored on your computer. if that file name was know then it could be copied and backup up

AoW 3 had such a file for custom rulers and it was not hard to find it

What are you talking about? The save game location with the custom rulers is well known.

I wonder if the save games have some device ID. It would concur with the reports of Steam Deck users, but I see it as a far fetched theory at the moment. Best to wait for a developer response on the matter to be certain.
