Independent Army Strength Scaling - TOO MUCH
I was playing on World Threat Normal, with the mod Massive map, and I am at turn 63...

Are the marauder parties meant to be fielding armies with two tier V units, and they are all elite or higher?! I haven't even unlocked my tier V units yet and I already now have to send like three armies to take down a marauder guard army, since most have over 1000 attack power.

This seems wrong somehow. I think it is the massive map, but otherwise it has made the game much harder and not in a good way.

I'm not using any mods and that is how it is for me as well, so I'm assuming it's "normal" even if it is a bit bonkers. They don't get much stronger than that though, so later in the game you can generally take them with a single stack again.

Thx you, in future games I will just lower them, since I can no longer clear stuff at the moment, lol. Still how is that normal diff, lol.

I play on high risk with every 10 turns free space got infested with new lairs, a bigger one has easy 2-3 stacks defending it with t4/t5 units and over 2K strengt.

No, you need only the right perks (empire) and the right time to attack.

They do get strong fast. I noticed tha as well. But here's the thing: there's only one stack guarding stuff, and you usually don't need to fight more than that at a time, so just 3v1 them, and win even with much lower tier units.

Also remember that the mob stacks can't cast tactical spells, you can.
So all in all, it's should be an easy win for you regardless.

I would say fair enough, but when the armies have two champion level Horned Gods, I would say no. Most of the armies on my game were 1500 strength

Yeah, I feel like there should be a toggle for unit scaling in the independent armies. Clearing a single resource node should not require a full stack--or several--to clear imo. Some of these random resource nodes are fielding forces scarier than what I have faced in gold tier wonders. Even if we kept the scaling, maybe it should cap at tier 3 units and stuff so they are still somewhat simple to take on by comparison to player armies.

It is one of the things which aren't balanced beyond the standard map settings. Regular structures with ~T4-5 defenders are silly.

And just wait until you conquer some AI cities by turn 80+, and find that they didn't bother clearing any structures or spawners in their whole area.

Basically you are meant to have won the map by that time already.

There is a map setting, but you have to go to advance setting for it.
