This is the best 4x game ever !
I find myself playing this game all night without sleep.

The game is very beautiful, especially at higher resolutions and Ultra settings.

At first I was sad that this did not have a campaign. However after playing the first 2 scenarios I don't miss anything. The scenarios themselves play like mini campaign maps and every map has plenty of unique things to do. Beautiful ancient wonders, new items to acquire, new units, new leaders, factions, allies, spells etc.
I was delighted to have an ally of House Inioch in the first realm !
I love that I can create my own faction and play the scenarios unlike previous AoW games where in campaign maps I had to play with a fixed faction.

I have had zero crashes. At first I was using the hotfix branch and later I switched to the main branch when the hotfix was officially released.
Performance is decent for a turn-based game. At Ultra settings, 70% Render Scale at 4K/120hz desktop resolution, I get between 60-120 fps in-game. I play using my laptop connected to my TV. It's an i7 11800h with RTX 3080.

The only minor gripe I have is the combat camera, the way it zooms in and out, far and near. An option to disable automatic camera in combat would be great !

Age of Wonders has always been my favorite game, ever since the first one. I did not like AoW:PF because it's not fantasy and I'm not a fan of Sci-Fi. AoW4 brings back old memories.

Well done Triumph and thank you !

Well Tyrion I am glad this game didn't come up short for you, and that you aen't looking down on it.

Oh, someone who has never played Civ 3, Civ 5, Stellaris, Civ 6, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, Crusader Kings....

I've played all those, and still prefer AoW 4.

Wdym? I have played plenty of Civ 5 and 6 with my friends. We used to play all night !

I prefer games with a fantasy setting over others which is why AoW has always been and will remain my favourite.

Age of Wonders 4 is great. But it has not reached the same level as those other games yet.

If you want to specify your definition to the release version of all of those games, without all the addons, then I like to agree, that Age of Wonders 4 might be superior. But it also benefits from being the latest in line of grand strategy games.

I agree OP. The game has great pacing, and neither mid or late game drags as much as in most 4x games.

It's not for everyone, but I appreciate being able to play through a map in a few hours instead of a few days (or weeks). It's more of a tactical than a strategical (or grand) 4x game while some clearly prefer the latter to the former. I think they've carved out a pretty good spot in the genre with this one.

This is not grand strategy game. This is non-typical 4x with really serious tactical battles, almost wargame level.

I own them all and not one of them is installed except Civ 6 collecting dust. AOW4 already has more hours in the first week then I put in all those games except Civ 5.

It technically does have a campaign, there are a handful of story missions.

Yeah, I love this game. Up there with Planetfall as my favourite AoW, and I've been playing them from the start.

I love that you have to start a new game to create a new faction.
I love that all my units transform in the same ships on water. Way better than Planetfall, where you could see your units clearly. I mean, who wants that?
I love that I have limited save slots.
I love that the game runs slow during combat, even though I have way above the recommended requirements.
I love that the AI can siege me in one turn and can use my previous siege units against me.
I love the barebones campaign. That way, I can focus more on other things.

Overal. No bugs. Runs smooth. And has no glitches now, or in the future.
This game rules. This game is GOD.

Planetfall sea combat was god awful and ugly as sin. Total waste of developer resources.
