At War with every faction

Im am having an issue where every time I meet a faction in a new game on the same turn I meet them they all instantly declare war for no reason and the diplo screen doesn't allow me to do anything e.g. select make peace etc cant be selected any ideas what might be causing this as im at war with another player in MP as well but it wasnt instigated by either of us it just defaults to war with everyone as soon as I meet them. Anyone have any ideas as to why this happens?

It looks like it is a team game (have you assigned every player to a team during setup?) or maybe story realm forces it.

No teams are set for this game but will have to check story realm it just seems I cant do anything on diplo screen at all after it automatically declares war with every faction

Also I've heard there is a social trait which forces to declare war on you.

Hmm ok thanks ill have a look but it is for both of us players in the match the same thing is happening

There's a story realm which does this. This includes free cities too.

The AI is more likely to consider a Wizard King an invader. Mechanically, a Wizard King is set up to be an invader.

Are you playing Evil alignment? You tend to get worse relations with ai if you are, bit of a bummer but easiest way to change that is just spam them with gifts of gold (once you have economy for it!)

Actually there's a very simple explanation for this behavior.

If you declare war on someone when you have done nothing wrong to them then you don't get the -60% Imperium penalty.

Yes Im playing evil alignment on it both of us are so that may well be a factor as well just thought it was odd as player factions do it by default as well without any player input and then cant declare peace with each other
