The AI neighbor, being the molemen that they are, got a quest event to clear out a quest spawn from the mine. However, i was recently moving some units to the city and it just so happened that i had 4 units standing adjacent to the mine when the quest hit for my AI buddy. The molemen also had a hero and a bit of an army quite close so they were able to reach the mine in a single turn.
However, as i had units right next to the mine and since we were in a defensive deal - if he'd attacked the quest mobs it would have drawn in my units aswell. Apparently they didnt want to do that for some reason.
I fixed the situation by reloading the autosave and moving a unit that had movement left ontop of the unclaimed mine to force the location to not pop the quest for them.
How did you two find those units? Did you just scour the entire map or is there an easier way to tell? Cause I will not be able to remember which units were where before I clicked end turn.
Anyway, my solution was to go back one turn, remove the whispering stone, and then I could move forward. Ultimately I lost the race for that city, but I don't think that turn one made a difference, so I'm fine with it.
I should mention that the bug occurred while the independents were moving.
What I've tried but not working:
- Loading previous turn and play again
- Save and reload while stuck
- Clicking turn icon or the "sand clock" icon
- Openning all menus and interactions I could
There wasn't a lot of nuance to the situation, it was simply a marauder unit in ally territory that the AI ally wanted to kill with a couple of stacks of their own units and if I was close enough to be dragged into it, the turn would not complete.
