Souls
There really needs to be a much better way to gain this resource like having a graveyard facility that can be build, otherwise it feels like you have no chance to gain power quickly unless you are a warmonger from the start.

Which makes no sense, after all people die every day and why can't you collect those souls as a passive resource. Especially since every necromancy ability depends on it like mana.

And for that you have Soul Well or something like that, province building.

Necromancers are supposed to be evil and kill people.

I dont like the mechnic either, makes undead summons feel like gimped idiots with a small buff to frost resitances.

Basically falling behind every other existing unit.

Which is not nearly enough compared to the other means of resource generation that all other factions use. So the idea of an undead army is just unfeasible at any large scale.

It's basically like xenoplague, you have to be aware of what sets it up and go out of your way to exploit it. It gets easier and more plentiful the further along you get, and considering it's a bonus resource for both unit creation and spellcasting, it's pretty amazing when used properly.

That's just the common trope in modern fiction, but nothing about necromancy demands that it is used only for evil. It's death manipulation magic, that is all.

It's no different than enslaving an elemental or beast which druids and wizards do. At the end of the day, the undead do not have to look evil. Artists simply choose to portray them this way.

Yes, theoretically you are right.

almost like the whole book system is actually a shallow downgrade from 3s faction system, dressed up to look more impressive.

almost

Weird that it's managed to be so much better then.

More than theoretically to be perfectly honest, I started a business last year that is working on a product that intends to entirely throw out the modern idea of necromancy as inherently evil. Though without dismissing the modern fantasy tropes, as it's not meant to be something cringe like Overlord or other necromancy adaptations.

As with anything in fiction, I strongly believe a good story doesn't tell the reader or player what is right. Though lets the reader / player decide for themselves through the actions of the characters and how their choices influence the story.

In some ways subtle, and in others a bit more obvious such as a change of aesthetics.

its more an evolution. classes have more depth and content, meanwhile you can mit them and create unique bilds.

its in every aspect a huge upgrade.

I honestly thought there would be a soul generator later on... But to admit... I am not the BIGGEST fan of how necromancy is handled in this game.

Throwing wishy washy crap to turn everything into a generic blob of grey isnt a upgrade, but you do you. I refunded already and re dled 3.

Might pick this back up in a few years on sale.
