The last system was far better.
same i think the new system is great and you can be off exploring with your heroes and place outpost in far off regions easily
I swear the newer the game the less control we have over our armies.
In ao3 and planetfall all you had to do is to spam city and then build every prod building you could until you start specializing city which was a guaranty win with any faction.
Now you gotta think ahead and reserve location you want.Having city lock being imperial point make playing think where to drop a city next instead of saying well i will just build an other settler in 4 turns....That how a 4x is suppose to work and not turning the game into a spam city then spam units then win.
Something the overwhelming majority of 4x games do BOTH in. So, no, its not "how its supposed to be"
Think the new system is far superior to the outdated and tedious 'settler' mechanic that's been a staple of 4x games for decades for no good reason.
I mean thematically it makes more sense to set up outposts that turn into cities but leaving that to one side its just a less tedious system. I don't understand the joy people got from building a unit who's only purpose is to immediately walk to 'spot x' and cease to exist.
As for the map and its sectors I also prefer this. For all its illusion of depth previous AOW games ended up with horrible and frankly stupid city placement cause it just let you spam them anywhere not like cities at all but just capture points to grab monster dens.
Settlers and Workers are boring, annoying and add nothing to the gameplay. Glad to see them gone. They do nothing for Civ either.
