What was wrong with Settlers and or workers ? this building outpost's is so underwhelming and annoying.

Click left or right or whatever on a tile or an army pay 50 gold and then what wait 2 turns for pah

Yeah, city placement is a flat downgrade from 3. I dont know why 4x games are so insistent lately on taking away control of placement from the players, but its a horrid trend that needs to die yesterday.

Agreed.

I like new system except requirement for hero. If any unit could build outpost, I would be happy. Probably you forgot how annoying and expensive it was to build settlers and then send them to future city site in previous games.

I played 3 like a week ago, i forgot nothing.

The last system was far better.

same i think the new system is great and you can be off exploring with your heroes and place outpost in far off regions easily

You also hate that sieges need a hero unit now?

I swear the newer the game the less control we have over our armies.

Outpost=land reservation and you turn it into city when you ready.Since there a limit number of city its a good way to save land for later.Once you start expanding after 3 citys each city unlock limit cost 250 imperium point and double each time.I find the new system pretty strong.

In ao3 and planetfall all you had to do is to spam city and then build every prod building you could until you start specializing city which was a guaranty win with any faction.

k, now explain why those arbitrary restrictions are actually good.

Yeah, paying hundreds of gold and hundreds of production to get tier 3 unit with upkeep slowly moving to city site is extremely fun comparing to paying 50 gold to create a fort which costs 10 gold per turn and allows to gather resources and heals 25 HP per turn to friendly units.

your using production cost to justify absurd limitations, miss me with that nonsense.

The other game was spam city as much as you can then build prod/gold and specialize your city the way you want.By the end of turn 50 you could have like 15 citys and own any Ai at Max difficulty without too much problem.

Now you gotta think ahead and reserve location you want.Having city lock being imperial point make playing think where to drop a city next instead of saying well i will just build an other settler in 4 turns....That how a 4x is suppose to work and not turning the game into a spam city then spam units then win.

"thats how 4x is supposed to work" What you are describing is wide and tall.

Something the overwhelming majority of 4x games do BOTH in. So, no, its not "how its supposed to be"

i just want the ability to change the map size without having to add more AI opponents. One of my all time favorite things to do in AoW3 was play on extra large, have like 5 AI opponents and then hunker down for the troll march and deathwaves of bone dragons. Oh well...guess we are going to have to wait for the god-tier modder community to save us again.

Hard disagree

Think the new system is far superior to the outdated and tedious 'settler' mechanic that's been a staple of 4x games for decades for no good reason.

I mean thematically it makes more sense to set up outposts that turn into cities but leaving that to one side its just a less tedious system. I don't understand the joy people got from building a unit who's only purpose is to immediately walk to 'spot x' and cease to exist.

As for the map and its sectors I also prefer this. For all its illusion of depth previous AOW games ended up with horrible and frankly stupid city placement cause it just let you spam them anywhere not like cities at all but just capture points to grab monster dens.

Settlers and Workers are boring, annoying and add nothing to the gameplay. Glad to see them gone. They do nothing for Civ either.
