Is it just me or the mount traits really bad ?
Spend a trait to get your scout and hero on a mount, maybe im doing it wrong but my mounts never get into combat, and my heroes get better mounts from battle rewards fairly regularly. Are there actual combat calvary units im not seeing ?

Feudal and Dark cultures get tier 3 knights. One of the Order tomes has a tier 4 knight. Those are about the only combat cav so yeah, outside of those the mount traits do basically nothing.

So they're something you only want to take if you're going to play Feudal or Dark and plan on spamming a lot of cav. Haven't tried it but I suspect it is isn't that great. Though I do recall finding the elf unicorn cav in AoW2 very spammable because of how useful phase is.

Mount race trait are good only for Dark/Feudal spamming T3 Shock Knight which takes a while or Barb spamming T2 mounted archer (mix with Tyrant Knight later from order tome). Not an issue for heroes as you usually find plenty of other mounts.

As the Lion King, I am a powerful and majestic creature, feared and respected by all who dwell in my domain. And as such, when it comes to choosing a mount for battle, I have many options at my disposal.

The first choice I might consider is the mighty War Elephant, a massive creature that towers above all others on the battlefield. With its thick hide and massive tusks, it can trample through enemy lines and smash apart even the toughest defenses. Plus, its sheer size and strength make it a formidable mount for even a creature as large as myself.

Alternatively, I might choose to ride into battle atop a powerful Dragon, its scales gleaming in the sunlight and its fiery breath scorching the earth. With the Dragon's ability to fly, I could swoop down upon my enemies from above, raining down destruction upon them with the Dragon's devastating attacks.

Or perhaps I might choose to ride a fierce Dire Wolf, a creature that shares my own ferocity and thirst for battle. With the Dire Wolf's razor-sharp teeth and powerful muscles, I could charge headlong into enemy formations, cutting them down with ease.

Ultimately, the choice of mount depends on the situation at hand. Each creature has its own strengths and weaknesses, and it is up to me as the Lion King to choose wisely, selecting the mount that will give me the greatest advantage on the battlefield.

The mount trait also makes factions that typically lack mounts (excluding scouts) get a mount.

Though... they isn't always all that great. I think Mystics just get a mounted wizard.

The Spider mount is pretty strong for the AOE damage+immobilize on scouts and cav, while the Wolf mount is good for knight spamming since they'll do bonus damage. Nightmares seemed pretty meh unless there's a hidden morale debuff stacking strategy we haven't found yet. Unicorns seem alright for terrorizing archers though
