Change gender?
I've just started the game and playing the tutorial. When I created my character, I couldn't see an option to change the gender, can only choose the women. Is that because it's just part of the tutorial/story?

I believe the option was 'Body Type', one of the first options in ruler creation.

They should have stuck with the obvious of course. I'm still not sure what gender the ruler I made is.

Gender is a construct just start identifying the gender you want problem solved.

There's no such thing as men and women, bigot. It's Body Type 1 and 2. :lunar2019laughingpig:

Thanks for the answers. I'll restart then. Do I use this character for the whole campaign? Or does each campaign stage have a different character?
Telmorial May 2, 2023 @ 5:25pm
In case it helps others, you don't need to restart the campaign to change your main hero's gender (err... body type). Just right click on the hero and click the adjust appearance button.

I think you can change or alter your character, including body type, just like in real life.

There's no such thing as fixed sex. Gender is a social construct, period. It's a mere coincidence that 99.99% of the people that can get pregnant have two X chromossomes (we used to call them women, but that's a dated term).

It's a generalization. Admittedly, although I am a fan, I am less familiar with Buddhism than Chinese philosophy, but the statement that life is suffering is gloss. It's more like ignorance, or a lack of wisdom or method is suffering. If Buddhism seeks to end suffering, and one accomplished Nirvana, that person reputedly does not suffer. There is no requirement that human life be suffering.

This is not the case, you can suppose a philosophical position without believing it. For instance, the Zhuangzi contains various aims at harm avoidance, since it was from the Warring States period. To perform a method of avoiding harm is not a belief, but an individual method is a Dao, or way of doing things.

I'm not going to discourage you further, and wish you luck in your spiritual and philosophical endeavors.

That is a much wiser approach. Try applying it more generally.

Performing the "rituals" or actions a belief system claims as beneficial isn't a belief... but being willing to perform them in the first place because you BELIEVE them to be beneficial is a belief.

The reason for this confusing mental gymnastics is the normalization of mental disorders associated with gender dysphoria and unhealthy sexual deviancy. Its easier and more polite to say someone has a female identifying spirit in a male body, than to say they are (right-wing generalization and rhetoric).
Well, not everyone likes autistics like myself, but I am here.

EDIT - added hardcore science link as I feel it's just lacking in general.

ASD, or Autism, is not a mental disorder. I see you claiming all types of bizarre extremely generic buzzwords meaning mostly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as well. Stop. You are not autistic, trust me, we are extremely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ specific. Probably to a fault.

I would argue it's not even a disorder. Sure, I excel in things like math and coding but have unbelievable difficulties with communication. I see everything in very simple patterns. Throughout my 40 years alive (only 10 of them understanding why people terrify me in general) I've never once met anyone with ASD who talks in generalizations or overly broad or ambiguous terms. It confuses us to high hell. We need more specificity than even NTs.

So, to stop this insecure "i identify as every minority" bs that I smell... ASD is quite literally the structure of the brain.

Two examples off-hand are the amygdala is actually larger in size (responsible for fight or flight response and likely the reason I have panic disorder). One very common comorbidity is anxiety disorders. Everyone with ASD or who has family members or friends with it probably already know this even by instinct.

And the corpus corpus callosum is smaller than normal. This, put simply, is at the middle of the brain and aids in communication between the left and right sides. Some theorize this is why those with autism can excel substantially in very specific areas (often in STEM) and also why tasks that involve multiple areas of the brain working together are very difficult - which is very commonly communication.

I can't explain it, but I often know if someone I'm talking with is possibly in the spectrum as my seemingly infinity communication difficulties disappear. We speak very specifically and often are told we are redundant without that being the intent. Studies have shown that groups of only NTs and only those with ASD communicate equally efficiently together. It's only when you combine them that communication really starts to fall apart.

The fact that virtually every thing you've said makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever feels almost insulting. Stay far away from ever thinking autism is a mental health disorder. It is not. There is no cure. You cannot acquire it. And I will happily argue there is no treatment either, and nor should there ever be. The brain is simply structured a bit differently.

Who is to say how bright the lights in store need to be? Or how lout the sound needs to get? The treatment for me is both are way too high, and cause extreme stress I cannot control. Any parent who has a child with ASD knows exactly what I'm talking about. Plus the science corroborates we are sensory hypersensitive for reasons I don't yet understand or maybe just can't explain.

I don't care if you disagree. I don't care if I offend. I don't care if I'm banned. And I'm sure, if you had ASD, you already know I can't even bring myself to read responses to this. The thought ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrifies me. Even potential positive responses.

Just keep the discussion of ASD, or autism, the hell away form mental health disorders. It is neither a disorder nor a mental health issue. It would be like me saying a person able to think things has a mental health issue and the treatment is to stop their consciousness. It's offensive as hell.

Ugh, there's no way you have ASD. None. I've corrected almost everyone on technology on steam elsewhere because I excel in it (unlike virtually everything else in life). I avoid this topic like the PLAGUE and certainly don't bring it up the second someone says "mental health" randomly like an idiot. You offend.

I've never once thought it was a good idea to expose I have it. Not once. And certainly don't bring this up randomly as some type of defense in a one liner. What. And here you are bringing it up whenever in response to something so far off subject it hurts my bran. Pick one of your other 5 million minorities you've listed already. Not this. Not cool. Now to hide from steam for a couple months. Fantastic. I hate this world.

At what point in gaming history did your gender seriously matter? Dating sims? What a tragic loss for them.

Most video games, through out time, do not care about your genitalia.

I wasnt going to comment further on this, but I do appreciate you being brave and coming forward to share with us your experience. I have noticed many people claim labels and to belonging to certain groups because of it being 'seemingly appealing' in certain spaces.

Which is really disgusting considering the suffering that some, legitimately belonging to these groups experience.

Not saying that is happening in this instance, but you would understand more than me, considering you have to live with this condition and can probably recognize others experiencing the same as yourself.
