How do i evolve units

I started with three feudal pikemen and they are all elite rank now. How do i actually get them to evolve?

You mean to the next Tier? I'm also curious, my Pikemen just turned into Tier 2 Shieldbearers, and I'm really not sure what happened.

Pretty sure they don't.

Some units can evolve like the spiderlings etc. Will be stated under the ranks

I made a mistake. I was playing aow 3 before launch and in that unis evolve at elite rank but in this it is champion rank.
My pikemen got some more xp and are defenders now.

Only units with the evolve trait (check init panel) can do that and it is indeed at champion rank. You can track their rank by hovering over the medal in the unit panel.

did yours not? I just noticed that they evolve to defenders at a certain rank (don't remember which, drunk right now) but also had a perk at legendary which is interesting because unless they're created at legendary they'd never achieve it.

I really liked cav upgrading to knights but I hate pikes upgrading to SnB with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ passion. Those are 2 completely different unit types, if I wanted a counter archer frontline I would've gotten one, why are you robbing me off my anti-cav???????
