How do I annex an ancient wonder

I came across a battleground keep that was repurposed as a fighting pit. I defeated the enemies and claimed the wonder. Now it says I can annex it and build an outpost but I can't see how. My hero/ruler is standing on the tile of the wonder but I don't see a button for it. The wonder is somewhat far away though.

You need to build an outpost nearby. Click on your hero, than on the province button in the lower bar. Now you can place an outpost in the region you are in.

After building the outpost you can build a work camp to annex it. The other option is upgrade the outpost to a city and then annex it with your city.

Or you simply annex it with your city like you do during normal population growth!

I have a City that should be able to annex an AW in a similar situation to OP but it won't let me. The AW is near mountains and on contested land, would either of those affect being able to annex it?

Anybody figure this out yet? I have two ancient wonders I've explored, and can't annex them. Built an outpost next to it and don't see a way to annex it with my city. I'm either missing something or there is a bug?

I can't figure it out either I have a lvl 13 city and still cannot annex the ancient wonder.

First your city must be close enough. Each city has maximum annexation range modified by building. It starts with 1. Then once you got that building you need additional population.

Alternatively build outpost nearby, turn it into city and once you get enough pop - grab sector.

This is not working for me. I have the outpost and work camp but the icon to annex the wonder keeps disappearing before I can click to annex it!

You have to build town halls to expans your annex range.
