Windows 7.
Hey,

Gonna swap rigs and OS around Christmas but until then I'm still on a Windows 7 rig.

Wanted to know if the game will at least run on it.

I've run plenty of games which said "Windows 10 minimum" flawlessly on this system.

So my question to the devs is this: What DX version does the game use? If it uses 12, I can't run it. But if it uses 11, there's a pretty good chance I can.

Hey, thanks man. :D

I hope the devs reply. If it uses DX 11 I'll buy it and try it. Worst case scenario it doesn't work and I'll have to wait until Christmas to play it.

Chances are they wont answer you as they haven't tested it on win 7. They might know it may run or start up on win 7, but again wont give any reply so nobody can claim they said it will work on win7

All I wanna know is the DX version, they can answer that.

I googled for it but found nothing though.

I was like you once, I refused to upgrade from Windows 7. And by my experience, my advice is thus:

Stop running.

You must be exhausted. The outcome is inevitable and it's senseless to struggle and wry against that from which there is no escape. Only through acceptance of the future, can one find peace. Age of Wonders 4 is a DX12 game, and Windows 7 64-bit doesn't properly support DX12 I'm afraid.

If you want to try and make DX12 run on Windows 7 maybe.

Finally built a new system at the start of this year and had to say goodbye to windows 7 and used 10. 7 served me well for so many years but even Steam is stopping support for it, RIP. No way I ever upgrade to 11 though :steammocking:

Honestly, with some tweaking, 11 isn't so bad.

You can always try forcing Dx11 and it may run. YMMV

Yo, i know from first hand experience how annoying it is people telling you to upgrade your OS when your using it for a specific reason, i was still on 7 up until about 4 months ago.

I'm now on the "just upgrade" side. I was really worried alot of old games and programs i use would break switching to 10, but i bit the bullet and... nothing changed. Other than the fact that i can play modern games without having to find work-arounds.

Would recommend just upgrading to 10, unless you are on 7 for a very specific reason, or your PC cant run it. Its very easy, quick and still free.

Why wait? The upgrade to windows 10 is still free I believe, Back up your files and go for it. Salvation is at hand!

I have 8gb of RAM. Windows 7 already struggles pretty hard with some games. With Windows 10 it will likely flat out crash.

I would need to upgrade this current rig to be able to install 10. And I won't. I'll get a whole new one.

And they have super big promos around Christmas for parts and other things.
