Give us the option to swap mouse button roles
Please, I understand that you like to do it like this in your games, but confirming with RMB and cancelling with LMB is not the go-to for instincts of most players, if you want to keep your default, that's fine, but give us the options to change it too.

But this IS the instinct of most players? Most Strategy games since 2001 onwards has worked like this.

Please note that some of us are left handed and that we also enjoy plying games where the use of mouse buttons feels natural for us as well!

:-)

Yeah, ofc. I don't mean to say the option shouldn't exist, it would be a good thing if it does.

Just pointing out that the stated norm is not the norm.

UNLESS OP was referring to ability usage, which yeah should be confirmed with LMB but I remember in AoW3 it was reversed.

Not exactly. For me, if I want to command a unit to do its default action on the target (be it unit or the tile or w/e), I "right click". But if I click on a command on a bar (as in XCom) or use keyboard shortcut (for example A for attack in some other games like Starcraft or Warcraft), I confirm the action with "left click".

Now, I noticed that in AoW:PF, you confirm everything with right click. So I end up making a lot of mistakes right-clicking on things expecting to cancel the action instead of confirming it, and cancel the action entirely because I "left click" on the target. Worse, it selects the target unit I clicked prior and now I have to go back and reselect my unit again. This is mostly in the XCom-like combat scene too so I go with my instinct playing that game all the time. I end up using auto battle just to not be annoyed.

So yeah, give us options to remap it as OP asked.

moving as a right click - yeah, that can be a first instinct, but I feel like that somewhat breaks with confirming/cancelling abilities.

and of course left handed players should have the same options as right handed ones, but if your mouse already has the reversed buttons, you'd run into the same problem, no ?

it's really as simple as swap confirm and cancel roles tickbox in settings :S

I agree, please give us the option it bothers me a lot and I missclick a lot which in the worst case requires a reload of my save :D LMB to confirm but not to confirm a movement? I agree with making it optional so everyone can play his prefered way.

"Since 2001" I never played a game so confusing. Every game that I played cancelled action with RMB. I can't play other games now after AOW4, it's very confusing.

HOMM, XCOM, Showgunners, etc. All of them execute an action with the left mouse button and cancel with the right one.

Please yes, just played 200 hours of AoW 1 and 2 and I cannot get used to it. It goes against every ounce of common sense in my brain.

Add me to the list of those who need the mouse buttons reversed.

Yeah, there's no reason not to have the option. I remember finding it counter-intuitive when I first played an AoW game. Used to it now, but having an option is always better.

Sure why not.
As long it is an options there is no reason not too.
Outside of laziness offcourse.

+1 for an option to switch mouse buttons.

I'm coming from another RTS and I'm so very used to right mouse button means cancel that AoW feels like playing with a disability. I constantly mess up my commands. This left/right mouse button war needs to end! Free the fingers! Save the minds! For the player sanity! \o/
