Where'd this idea come from that professional reviews are trying to tell gamers what to buy and enjoy? They're just one source of information you can use to decide if you want to buy a game or not.

People are getting offended because they are getting advertisement rather than genuine opinion. Journos got that kind of reputation, rightfully so.

So the issue is that messenger has bad reputation with credibility around rock bottom.

I have read the PCGAMER review. Of COURSE I trust it, but not for being PCGAMER. They gave it a 87 iirc and for me, they could have given it a 47 or a 96.

What I have read in the review, which talks purely about game mechanics, totally convinced me. It even compares it to planetfall, which allowed specific gear on monsters, and talked about its upsides and downsides.

Explained me how magic works, customization, how you can ascend one monster per species to max tier, but add more species...I mean, I like aow3, aow planetfall....so just a description as the review did, was more than enough to convince me.


I preordered before reviews because I knew that I would enjoy the game for sure. Maybe only enjoy without getting very hooked, maybe ultra enjoy, but I know I wont dislike it.

I didnt even dislike Spellforce: Something of Eo, which is much more simple, was a disappointment for me and didnt play it for long. But it wasnt bad bad, just not what I was looking for.

You know that all those answers and explanations were available in the dev diaries and the various official livestreams..

You sound like you are less critical thinking and more have ODD.

Some people prefer opinions they align with before the purchase. That's the whole point of reviews. If you just buy games and figure out if you like them that way then you aren't the audience for any review.

Personally, I have people whose opinion I generally agree with based on my own experiences matching their reviews. So, I generally trust them- but really I only need to know the launch quality of the game if I really want to play something.

And you sound like someone incapable of forming their own opinion and in need of external validation.

I'm getting suspicious of what we're seeing here in the weekend before the launch. These reviews are hardly examples of noses placed firmly between the butt-cheeks of the developers - they're mostly 8s which sounds about right to me so why are we seeing these attacks on these posters? Are you really that afraid that this game will do well? I really have no idea what the purpose here is but it smells off.

Tell me doc, ever notice just about all gaming reviews land between 7 and 10?

And it doesn't even matter what game we're talking about.

Why should I care? Why don't YOU answer the question instead of pretending you know something. Why do they mostly land between 7 and 10 and why is this so important? No links please, I want YOU to explain your own thinking and reasoning and not provide a link to some Archcast video.

Why do you think the game doesn't deserve an 8? Even were reviewers to use the actual full range of 0-10 to rank games, I said that sounds about right. A top-tier game would be a 9 or a 10.
