2. you can have 2+ Hero. It just costs you more gold
Me also set up network of outpost teleporters to exploit gold, mana, and magic material resources.
PS -You don’t need to go full chaos tome for the achievement just go for tier 5 chaos tome but i did it to maximize the chaos tree as quick as possible as mentioned later in this post (more chaos tome = more chaos affinity = finishing the tree as quick as possible and the razing perks you get from it are at the end of the tree but the earlier you get them the better for your game cause you will be razing city early enough). -
You wanna go very aggressive and don’t be afraid to go negative in gold income, you need to go for the cities quick including city states to get your income going thanks to the bonus you get from razing cities. Going full chaos helped me to get the chaos tech tree faster including the last perks you have with it ( razing bonusses) which stacked with the ones from chosen destroyer, hence the quicker i had them the better. Not only do you get quicker raze (1turn instead of 4) but also more money and population from it meaning you will get a megacity quick worth an entire empire. Going full chaos sounds like the best choice so you can get the last perk from the chaos tree as quick as possible. Again, they stack with yout bonuses from chosen destroyers so you will end up getting many many rewards from every city you raze. Not only that but you will also have the perk from chaos that give you 150% loot from pillaging and make it quicker so most of your income will be by pillaging the entire city while it is being besieged. It will also heal some of your armies should they need it. Thanks to dark culture you have some shadow point which give you access to the perk that gives research (one of the first ones so 2 point in shadow is more than enought and you get them with dark culture) when you kill heroes. Since you will be heavy on military this alone will make up for your lack of research cause you will kill a ton of them
With that set up you run into an opponent and your 3 main armies go for the siege (less if less is needed) meanwhile with stacks of 1 unit your pillage all the domains (it is only one turn thanks to the chaos perk) so that by the end of the siege you already gained 1k+ gold from pillaging. Then you get about the same from razing the city + permanent gold and mana income + population for your only city. Now that’s when chaos focus comes into play, not only will you boost your economy like crazy with every raid but you will also get population which is broken since you city is already big. By endgame you will have a 30+ population city if not 40 with as many provinces. Needless to say this city will do as good as 5 normal cities. Do the merchant guild and build mines everywhere you can in your city when you done with your main buildings so you can add another 200 gold income per turn. Easy win you cannot be stopped you can run negative income cause you gain so much gold every turn from pillaging and razing. Also only one city to defend. Use outposts to secure important stuff like magical ressources and to build teleporters on them to travel quickly and there you go
Oh and about heroe cap it is only more expensive and 30 gold to pay per turn to go over the cap but you will make so much money you don’t care about that so eventually when you economy gets better you will recruit a few heroes and go over the cap. That way you can do more razing at the same time and there goes your snowball effect. 3 extra heroes would only be 120 gold per turn. You will be sitting on thousands of gold easily so no big deal. When you get full chaos tree every city you raze will pretty much give you not far from 80 gold or so per turn if i remember well with all the bonuses you have from razing. The icing on the cake would be to have one friend out of the AI to sell the tremendous amount of stuff you will get - for gold and especially for mana which could be lacking-from all the heroes you will kill (sell those remains also easy cash)
Befriending one guy might prove very hard in brutal because of relation maluses from this difficulty mode + from chosen destroyer but there should be 1 ai with similar affinities as you and with declaration of friendship and gifts you should be able to befriend them. In normal mode it is no problem. You only need one friend to trade anyway. If not you can still sell all the extra equipment, granted for less but better than nothing and you will be swimming in it.
You also get a perk from chaos that give you income for every war you are in so just declare war on everyone except your friend if you have one and that’s a lot of money. Your city will be impossible to take cause it will be maxed out anyway and AI does not like to siege anyway.
There you have everything you need to beat brutal ai.
I do small map, relaxed, 1 opponent, small underground.
It's actually a great build for casual play because I'm not doing city development (beyond my 1st city). Just strategically building outposts on the front lines.
I don't plan on using chosen destroyers for any serious play just short quite games where I want Pantheon points from casual matches.
