Late game you can bypass it altogether with angelize or if you want to avoid that you can also pick tome of salvation at tier 3 for another +3 status resistance (anointed). Also gives keepers mark which helps a lot in keeping your units alive in autoresolve battles. Basically to the point where you hardly ever lose units at all in auto and can just win the map without dealing with the tactical combat special rule at all.
Just play skirmishers that can move and attack. Think how you position them. Try not to bring too many troops into easy battles (you will hurt yourself more than the enemy), etc...
Bumping status resistance (Tome of Salvation?) also helps.
All those story realms are designed to introduce you to different aspects / strategies in this game.
Also, for that specific map - if you take the quests path it becomes very easy (but you won't get special achievement)
i think it's 30% chance base, so with T3 that gets lowered to about 3%.
alot more manageable. (T4 and 5 are immune)
is the formula 0.3 * (0.9^3)? it's about 22%. better, but probably still not something i'd be comfortable with (but i admit i didn't realize the effect was affected by status resistance and not just hardcoded with a fixed chance). and by the time one gets to angelize the game should be all but won.
but golems are also immune to status effects, right? although the description says "negative effects", and i'm not sure if berserk is considered strictly negative. so an army of copper golems that runs away from enemies and waits for them to murder each other lol. but that's not going to work probably. are heroes affected btw? they can't be targeted by mind control and insanity spells for instance, but infection insanity can spread on them. a hero with a bunch of mana-addicted golems might work, but i suspect heroes are not immune to it.
Heroes aren't immune. I had my heroes wreck my own people from time to time :-D
And yeah, it can be "annoying", but I highly suggest seeing it as a "challenge" instead. The map challenges you to overcome this mechanic, which basically means that defensive play doesn't work out too well.
Adapt your tactics. For example, having overwhelming number advantages can lead to high HP losses in easy fights, as there aren't enough targets to keep your 18 units engaged, so they'll turn onto each other. It might be better to intentionally only attack with 1 or 2 stacks to reduce the infighting.
Also ranged units have a much easier time to reach an enemy.
Things like phasing, flying help enabling your units attack paths instead of being blocked in by your own units.
Maybe learn how to play games instead of playing on easy all the time or using cheats to get through them.
