Massive underground vs Small underground?
Title, thought it was self explanatory but pre last update Dragons Dawn I saw on the discussion page that small was "better" as massive just adds more windy paths.

It seems with the last update underground generation has been improved slightly so cities feel more viable. Still not great, but it's making me wonder if this change has been fixed also?

note that after the update you won't be able to sail underground without "underground adaptation" trait.

i have huge underground but only 10% of it is actual annexable tiles, the rest are bedrock or lava. Free cities and player cities with only 3-4 tiels to work with each, then only three spaces for cities with actual space for a proper city. What is the point of massive underground again?

From my experience, Massive Underground guarantees there will be a lot of Underground to cover. But because of how the underground is generated with significantly more restrictive areas compared to the Overland, expanding in the underground ends up being SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult as there is always a lot of ground to cover with no guarantees that ground will be suitable for a large city.

So, if Small undeground guarantees more wide open spaces, then it will definately be better than large undeground, as a lot of the space in large underground never gets used in all the games I have played with it.

Same, just tried another underground start and honestly don't recommend it. there are few sites for cities with most of it being bedrock, water and lava plus long corridors. Not worth it, imo.

There is a way to actually make underground tiles able to be annexed that you normally can't but I don't think putting it out there would be a good idea since developers in general are bad about doing such things as fixing the exploit before actually fixing the issue that makes such an exploit necessary, and in doing so just making things even worse.

If memory serves me rigtht, underground is one of the things they listed to be worked on for upcoming updates. It definitely is needed. Attached picture from a game with "massive underground"

Massive Underground gave more overall traversable land, but much of it was narrow corridors useless for building, while possible city sites were small and had few resources. Small Underground had much more undiggable bedrock, but the caverns were actually larger and more suitable for building. In my experience anyway.

The patch that comes with the next dlc is suppose to flesh out the underground terrain. What we have now is a functioning place holder. This is a beta launch after all.

I hope they will enable No underground realm modifier.

I'd plop a city down there despite its near uselessness just for the cool factor that that site has.... of course I'd probably release it as a vassal shortly after to not have to deal with it anymore... but hey.

same. i dislike underground. like the last game i would love to deactivate this like i can deactivate in other game teleporter. its annoing when them random apair from the underground mid or close to my citys without i know it. plus the underground is pretty useless and ugly in my eyes.

Yes, that needs to be an option.
