Musketeer and firearms

Hello, will there be units like musketeers in age of wonders 3 ?

Lennard called AoW3 'mediaeval-renaissance' and AoW4 'classic-mediaeval', so maybe less machines, although there are 'materialism' spellbooks.

There have been musket/gun units in every AoW game since AoW1, and pistol units since AoW2, so I'd be very surprised if there were none.

I'm betting there'll be some "technology" style tomes at least, and one of the cultures is "industrious" which also suggests something like this.

That will be kind of a shame if they don't have a steampunk faction like in 3. But at least some stuff will probably be saved for expansion/dlc.

I think i saw in one of the gifs going through tome selection, a "tome of the artificer" or somesuch, that looked like a techy tome. I hope they bring back firearms/steampunk elements too.

Even if it's "classic-medieval" as Erik says, it should be reasonable to implement some form of cannon. The cannon had its place on the battlefield far earlier back than most realize. I'm hopeful.

Yeah I hope that there will be a way to discover them in a tech tree because I love include muskets and early firearms in my armies. I don't ask for steampunk robots like in the 3 but really just having th epossibility to have muskets and maybe canons.

Possible in one of the upcoming DLCs, which seems technology based.
