Re: Her amazing intellect:
I could buy the idea that she's really good at putting pieces together, but my problem is simple: "garbage in, garbage out." Her skill is explicitly stated to not be magic or psychic clairvoyance. It's based only on the accuracy of the information which reaches her. Musse cannot be everywhere at once. She needs sources to feed that information back to her. The problem is that those sources are by definition, not as exceptionally brilliant as Musse. No matter how smart and exceptional she is, if her sources are wrong, miss key facts, or are fed misinformation, then the information she bases her predictions on will therefore be flawed.
The genius thing isn't well-written enough to really make it improve her as a character. Like when Lloyd figures something out, he pieces it together with various clues that actually were written in the story and it makes sense. But with Musse it's more like jumping to a conclusion that isn't bothered to be set-up properly because 'too smart for you, trust her bro'.
Not to mention the whole Mille Mirage thing isn't exactly a genius move... Ally everyone against the big bad guy, duh? Supposedly it was her genius to figure out that Erebonia would launch osme kind of world war, but the source/cause of that, Ishmelga, was something she should have had no way of knowing anything about, with less clues to its existance than say, Ash's curse-ailment thing.
Genius-thing aside, most people decided they liked her before that was even revealed, they just like the Rean-flirt thing, which again I find odd since everyone hates Anegelica.
Though I have to admit her first bonding event where she casually strips in front of rean (behind the screen) is pretty hilarious.
The RAGING LESBIAN
As someone who's kinda neutral on both characters, I think the answer is in your question. Musse's, what, two or three years younger than Rean? She's overly aggressive and inappropriate, sure, but with Angelica I think you could make the argument that she comes off as more of a predator.
Nope, it's not about her orientation, I dislike any abusive ppl for the start. To me, Musse, Angelica and Gwyn aren't better than Shirley, but at least I'm not forced to put the last two on my party.
If you like Angelica, liking Musse too wouldn't surprise me much. That said however Angelica is like the 2nd least fave character in the fanbase, second only to Elise.
Heck. The fact Musse even has the hots for rean like the second she sees him kinda disturbs me too since she's supposedly a good friend of Elise/Alfin. It's like, oh hey I know I'm going to try and yoink my good friend's dream-boy and I barely even met him! da fu?
I mean I don't think Elise SHOULD be Rean's GF, but that's besides the point, especially since Musse, never, at any point, expresses that Elise shouldn't 'qualify' or whatever.
People hate Angelica because her schtik gets old since she does nothing else. Musse... She's a flippin main cast, so her schtik gets even older faster since you see more of her. It boggles my mind.
The only reason why I can think of that so many people like musse and not Angelica (for the people who like/dislike them, not someone who likes both, not talking about you per say), is because they actually DO self-insert with rean, and be all like 'grr' at a fictional character 'taking' all the girls, and are all <3 with girl who is fawning over their self-insert. Maybe that's a bit too judgemental, but honestly, I'm not emotionally invested or anything, I don't have a burning hatred for musse, I just like her the least in new class 7 is all, but I don't HATE her. But I just can't see a reason why someone would have such a different opinion between the two than that.
Yeah, exactly... I love the trails series because even the most unimportant of npcs have been fleshed out beyond that of standard rpg fare. But to have a main character that can be summed up with 1 or 2 words goes against what makes trails good.
