How is this connected to the Trails in the Sky-Trilogy?
I've played the Sky Trilogy over a year ago and wanted to continue with this game and Azure next, as I've heard that this is next in the timeline.

So my question is: How exactly is this duology connected to the Sky-Trilogy, as it seems to have completly new main-characters and would someone be so kind and link or give me a summary of the Sky-Trilogy, as I don't remember all details anymore?

Thank you very much

Trails is a continuing series, which consists of several sub-series. Each sub-series consists of several games set in one particular country on the continent of Zemuria, and centered on a particular set of characters, but there is continuity in the overarching long-term plot, as well as returning concepts, characters, lesser plot threads, and such.

The first sub-series, a trilogy, was set in the Kingdom of Liberl, and consisted of Trails in the Sky FC, Trails in the Sky SC and Trails in the Sky the 3rd.

This game, Trails from Zero, is the first game in the second sub-series, a duology, centered on the small City-state of Crossbell. The second and final game in this subseries is Trails to Azure, which came out in English just last week. As such, it is set just after Trails in the Sky the 3rd in terms of continuity.

After this series there is the third sub-series, a tetralogy, set in the massive Empire of Erebonia and consisting of Trails of Cold Steel 1-4 . These games have been out in English for some years already.

Beyond that there is a sort of 'capstone' game to the second and third sub-series called Trails into Reverie, which will be out in English in July of this year, and after that there is the forth sub-series, probably a trilogy again, and set in the sprawling Republic of Calvard, which isn't out in English yet.

As for a plot recap of the Sky games; that's too much to put in a forum post, but there are video recaps/summaries on Youtube. Just search for 'Trails in the Sky summary' or something like that.

My summary of how the Crossbell duology connects to the Sky trilogy would be that:

1) It takes place chronologically after them, and obviously is in the same interconnected world with its political system.

2) Some characters from Sky show up here and 'conclude' their character arcs. (Those characters even said they were coming here in Sky the 3rd.)

3) The major events from Sky do have some consequences in Crossbell that are mentioned (namely the Non-Aggression Pact, but the orbal shutdown phenomenon is also known).

4) The lore and factions etc from Sky get built upon for some spectacular reveals—in Azure in particular.
