Can only build 1 RCOB, Mission requires 2
I was working on the 2nd home mission. I researched and built an RCOB module. Then when trying to continue the mission which required a 2nd RCOB module, I was not able to build one at all. I had plenty of connections, but RCOB was no longer on the list of modules I was able to build. Just to be certain, I checked both types of nodes.

Hi, I'll try to jump in and help!

When playing the Second Home mission, you only have to build the base module RCOB once. This mission specific module unlocks for building once you have completed the second mission project "Reality follows Theory". The next mission module RBSY (Bio Synthesizer) will unlock for building once you have completed the fifth mission project "Bio Synthesizer". In ESV, you have to navigate to your existing RCOB module and select a green connector. The RBSY (and all following mission modules) will appear for building there.

In all main missions (Second Home, Protective Shield, Trade Route), the individual parts of the mission-specific module will unlock one after the other by completing mission projects and will build on top of each other. So after building the first one, the rest of the module parts need to be built directly onto the base module by using its green connectors.

In ASL, a big mission system can be placed after building the first mission module. The rest of the systems (when expanding the mission module with further parts) will appear automatically on this big mission system. So if you have placed the RCOB system on the ASL grid and then built the RBSY module onto it in ESV, the corresponding RBSY system will appear automatically as an extension of the existing RCOB system.

I'm guessing this confusion comes from the project detail view of the next mission project, is that correct? Somehow this view shows RCOB two times as a needed module/system. This is an error, we are already fixing it and this will be improved in a future update of the game to reflect the correct module names (RCOB, RBSY,...).

I was just having the same issue as op, so thanks for answering!

The problem is that I can't even launch the mission. I have all the modules (except second RCOB) and I can't start doing this task.

Figured it out... there is green extension port for additional RCOB modules. Easy to miss.

Glad to hear you figured it out! Yes, the special green connectors for the mission modules seem to be a bit too easy to miss, we will need to see what we can do about that in the future.

Likely due to no one expecting green connectors. Also not sure if I missed them initially or if they show up only after doing one of the mission. Maybe some hint somewhere would be enough to help with missing it.

The green connectors are individual for the mission-specific modules. Regular modules available throughout all missions are connected by either blue or yellow connecting points. But once the first mission-specific base module (RCOB for "Second Home", DCOM for "Protective Shield" and CCON for "Trade Route") is built onto a blue connector, all following parts of the mission module need to be built onto the existing base module using its green connectors.

Please keep in mind that there are a lot of us out there who are colorblind and may not be able to tell the difference between the colors of the nodes. So what may seem obvious to you, is definitely not to those of us who lack the same color vision. Making things full color vision dependent is just a bad idea.

I am not colorblind yet I still missed it. I just didn't expect to look for green port. After all the time I spent working with blue and yellow... didn't register in my mind to look at green. Also worth noting that green and blue are essentially one color (in most languages).
