Fantastic walking sim. I enjoyed exploring all the levels and talking to the npcs very much. The art and sound design are great, making for impeccable atmosphere. And the ending is really cool.

This game changed my view on games because this incredible atmosphere and such an original idea just steals my heart

The story in this game is simple, but it is the minimum that is decent, the NPCs feel like living beings, not like ‘eh, I'm just an NPC’ and you always think about them until you get to the next level. Every thing or corner is created with love by the author, maybe I'm exaggerating, but I don't think so.

I highly recommend this game.

Just a collection of vignettes, with great visuals and music. Pretty much just a walking sim. It's good, though.

Pour pleinement faire l’expérience de ce jeu, il vous est nécessaire d’entrer en état hypnagogique. En écrivant ceci, je n’arrive pas à faire sens de cette expérience mais je sais que cette nuit j’ai exploré des contrés oniriques; certaines oisives et féériques et d’autres provenant de cauchemars lugubres. Les habitants de ces mondes m’ont aidé à éclaircir les profondeurs de mon inconscient et d’autres ont fait resurgir en moi des angoisses existentielles. Cette expérience vidéoludique m’a fait voyager, j’ai pris plaisir à explorer et à me laisser porter par l’ambiance. Je pense que c’est dû aux musiques envoûtantes et aux visuels colorés.

Avant de faire votre choix, vous devez savoir que ce n’est pas un jeu à gameplay. Vous avancerez de façon assez linéaire dans l’environnement du niveau en discutant avec des personnages et en récupérant un objet pour une quête. Dans ce sens, si vous voulez “juste” jouer, ceci n’est pas pour vous. Les niveaux sont visuellement différents les uns des autres mais à par ça ils se ressemblent un peu tous dans ce qu’il y a à faire et dans leur structure. Malgré cela, j’admire le travail qui a été fait presque seulement par une personne. Ce jeu est un exemple en matière d’art ou la soustraction des éléments non essentiels permet de mettre en valeur ses qualités essentielles. J’ai fais beaucoup de blabla mais je ne trouve pas que le jeu soit incroyable comme d’autres le pensent.

I have a huge boner for Haunted PS1 games and this one is definitely one of my favorites... I love that it starts out so whimsical and airy, then gets really dark and unsettling... there's a slice of everything in this game from liminal environments to otherworldly fantasy to straight up nightmare fuel. This game is like wondering through a nostalgic dream... those low-poly graphics clawing at my heart meats.

DREAMS OF THE "WEIRD" DOOR

This game is dope, its like literary allusion: the game. It somehow meets like 14 genres, and is also beautiful the whole time. Not any remarkable tale to tell, just a fun, GOOD experience. Plus I have personal stakes in this game and thus I have to abide by positively reinforcing its public opinion. Shoutout to Chase Levine.

It pains me to give this game a negative review because it really is a gem (or at least has the potential to be one). Unfortunately, because of the abysmal auto-save function, I was forced to regularly replay 15-20 minute sections of this game during my 3-4 hours with it. While in some games, this wouldn't be too much of a problem, Hypnagogia essentially banks on the novelty of its visual experience. The gameplay itself can be quite a slog to repeat when you've already seen the area and read the dialogue before.

If this sounds like something you can deal with (or if you like leaving your game open regularly), then you should still give this game a try. There is a good experience here. I just personally got to a point where I didn't want to spend another 20 minutes re-talking to a bunch of NPCs in a specific order just to get back to where I was and finish the game.

This is a great PS1 style puzzel platformer with a lot of wholesome stories to tell.

Easily one of my favorite games within the past few years! I was extremely immersed in the dreamscapes this world has to offer, and all of the secrets within. Extremely charming, memorable, and I am ecstatic for Raptorsoft's next projects. If you yearn for a similar feeling Undertale had on you when you played it for the first time, this is the game for you! (Thera, my beloved <3)
