1. Buy the same player with GP.
2. Use Legacy Transfer.
3. Select the same player with expired contract.
4. Transfer all EXP and additional skills to the new version of the player.

Dont use coins on card boxes. Save them and buy both match pass or premium pass. They give you lots of 10 day renewals. Use on the players you will use.
