How can i cut gas pipe safly?

I today upgraded my shop and went to the 400$ medium ship and started scrapping and then i saw the gas pipes and tried to cut it but blew up and i don't know how to cut it safely without blowing if it is possible.

Find and use a nearby gas pipe safety valve. Then, you can safely cut the gas pipe.

I think it also warning you with a message to close the gas valve before cutting as the outline of the gas pipe is red instead of the usual green outline to cut.
