Ambience items?

The ambience tutorial gives you a fan that's supposed to blow dust off nearby shelves. I have no idea what the other ambience items do though, is there somewhere that explains it? I wish they had tooltips.

Also, what effect does ambience coverage have? I haven't seen that explained either.

I could not tell if ambiance items had any effect at all. I spent so much time running around trying to charge them, but never noticed a buff of any kind. My displays would still get dusty from time to time even with two fans.

I'm lost too. I agree with the above posts-- only the fan seems to do something (prevent dust from forming on displays) as per tutorial... but I really couldn't figure out what the others did.
