It both is and isn't, really. I'd say it's more driven than any AC game since you have a 'real job'; progress is made through running your shop because that's the only way to generate funds, but the day/night cycle progresses more at your will. It's less of a collect-a-thon than AC is because there's only one area of a museum you'll far too rarely find treasures for, but as a longtime AC fan, I do very much like this game too. It has some room for improvement, but the devs are actively updating and ironing out bugs, so I'm happy with my purchase.

its more or less "story mode Animal Crossing" If youre looking for a forever game like Animal Crossing you can turn on and do some little stuff every day, this isnt it. It has too little to do for such a forever game.

Its still a good game, its just way more focusing on progression and beating the game than keeping you invested for triple digit hours

Honestly I feel like this has more to do than AC. You get to a point with AC where you are just doing the same thing over & over...this has a bit of that, but the shop makes it a little more interesting IMO.
