New Player - Haggle Makes No Sense
OK, so in the tutorial, you go through making items, and setting stuff out to sell, kinda reminds me of Moonlighter, and you set your prices, and then the game was explaining the haggle system, and uh...

This makes no sense.

I had a basket set out for 553 because apparently that's what the game thinks it should sell for.

Maple goes to buy the basket, and the game wants to explain the haggle system. She says that she doesn't like the price, and so the whole haggle UI comes up.

Then, I end up wasting 5+ minutes trying to figure out why the game won't accept anything I put in there.

So here's my logical reasoning:

I put the item on sale for 553.

The customer doesn't like the price.

Okay, maybe 530? Nope, game doesn't want that.
525? Nope, game doesn't want that.

OK so I'll try every number between 553 and 500 and nope, none of those work.

Then I'm like "WTF....?"

Apparently, the game wanted me to ... INCREASE the price? How does that even make sense?

So it wants me to try 1000 which Maple obviously refuses and then offers... 600something and the game suggests I go with 800 which she accepts.

... this is not how haggling works, lol. She happily bought the item at what, like +30% on the listed price after initially disliking the price?

In what world does that actually make sense?

There is an arrow pointing upwards next to the haggle price, if I recall it if you're still in the tutorial with Adi teaching you haggling with Maple. Confused me too, as I spent quite a few minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.

The game wants you to put the price extraordinarily high but doesn't actually tell you.

Yeah, I eventually found THAT out, but the whole concept of Maple going "Oh, I don't like 553... but yet I'll buy it for 800." just seems so... silly.

it can get so much more silly as well, with a couple bonuses they end up tipping more than an item costs, sometimes significantly more.

Not to mention that some Paleofolk got perks that makes them tip way more by default, like Scout and his 50% tipping. There's often little to no reason to actually haggle, better to just accept it straight away to speed up the process.

You have to really pay attention to the dialogue during the tutorial, especially during the haggling. Adi explains multiple times that this is all for practice just to show you how the process works. Once you're out of the tutorial, you can increase/decrease at will, accept their counter offers, or just take the first offered price (sometimes they even offer more than you put it out for) :)

I get that, but...

This is just silly.

Imagine walking into a store, seeing a $5 item on the shelf, walking up to the cashier and going "I'd like to buy this for $6 please." and then proceeding to haggle and walk away after paying $8.

It makes no sense whatsoever.

Judging from what other posters said above... this happens even after the tutorial.

Normally I wouldn't really care much about something like this, but you know, the game is supposed to be centered around owning and operating a store.

I'd expect that the mechanics of selling items to make sense? I mean, is that unreasonable?
