First time Fusilade is asked for, my tanks are in the negatives
Howdy, this is post-update. I restarted, am blazing through the technology. I consider myself way ahead of the curve on research and tank design for May 1916, and even acquired a few rival tanks. My Mark II Vanguard Tank is super upgraded and is really high on Success (800+) and is making me some bank! My Vanguard competition at this point is the Artemis Mark 1 whcich has had a success of only 212 or so. My Fusillade version (Mark II female) is just as upgraded, so imagine my surprise when the very first Fusillade contract is offered and I am negative 400. The same Artemis Mk1 that I have been competing against is suddenly a +389. Hmmm.... I have the best armor, best tech at the moment, and even reverse engineered the MG08 (awesome MG), have Tracer rounds, Truck Fuel and Oil, and am still in the negatives. Of the requirements, I am 49 points below the protection requirement, but the points deducted are amazing highly (over 240 points!). So, I reloaded a game save, added layers of armor, then found myself too heavy for the tracks. So I reloaded a third time, added layers of armor just shy of being overweight, and am still negative 200. All the other tanks I have are -600, -800, -1200, so I am at a complete loss. Is there something wrong with the algorithm, or am I missing something so early in the game? Thanks.

Hello.

Are you using a Mark V hull design?

What type of tracks are you using? If you are using centipede, have you tried using warhorse instead? It has a 5 base side armor different with the benefit of supporting a higher mass.

Alternately, you could get the research for improved female sponsons and get the improved version with a +7 side armor from the mark 1 version.

Can you send a pic of your design?

Hello, it's still relatively early in the game, so no I don't have the Mark V yet, but the rival tank is still in Mark I mode as well. I have the better armor (RHA), bolts, I improved the female sponsons to the better armor, improved the Mark I hull to the max. I took another look at the stats and penalties. In the contract requirements, it says I am -49 to the armor requriement, but penalized 324 points. I also have +11 on the FIrepower Soft, but am penalized 40 points. How I am being penalized for having better stats than they require?

As for attaching pics, I am not sure how to do that. I have to go to work now, but will figure it out and post something later. Again, this is still early in the game, and it is the first time the Brits are asking for a Fusillade, but my best tank that was purposely engineered for it is starting at -307. I don't get it.

hi Lowenbrau!
Could please send a screenshot of the Mark I female configuration ? and try to fill the expandables and crew completely to the green indicators

I find it a lot harder to get good scores now.
For fusillade I've used the big German box tank, with and without cannon.

I'm struggling with various other designs though.
My Heavy Mark 1 and CB-16 designs used to cover several roles with high scores.
Not any more.

how dose it compare to the role your trying to fill? also in the contract what is it telling you for you score break down? if you look at those hopefully it will help you answer your own question.

The first pic is the heavily upgraded MK2 Female as it stacks up against the requirement. Keep in mind, this is early game, the very first time a Fusillade is asked for. This female has as much armor as I could pack on without going overweight. I immediately start out in the negatives, and even get negative points for having BETTER guns than what they require.

I would also note that the design requirement is for a HEAVY Fusillade Tank not Fusillade Tank.
Edit: This is suppose to be a Mark V hull contract. You can see if your game is bugged by seeing if Great Britian has adopted the Fusillade Tank Role prior to Heavy Fusillade or if GB has adopted the Heavy Fusillade Tank role at all. If Great Britian hasn't, start a new game since the dev has stated in the last bug patch that Countries were requesting tank contracts for tank role that havent been adopted.

That means the three category for 4x points are in the Armor (Front thickness of tank hull/turret), Ammo storage (Extra Machine gun ammo), and repairability of the power unit (Engine)/ running gear (Tracks), and machine gun (Secondary weapon).

You are probably losing points in the firepower section because you do not have enough ammo storage (which is the only section beyond numbers of gun that should be amplify by x4 points). You cannot meet that base ammo storage requirement as this contract is suppose to be for the Mark V hull. Best you can do is slap on the extra ammo storage and hope that other parts of you tank can compensate.

For protection, change out any module that is affecting front thickness/front ricochet prior to uparmoring your tank.

For repairability, just update or clone your track/engine/hull and build it toward repairability.

Tanks, Shiroe. I went back and kept fiddling with it while the game was running, then suddenly Britain asked for restock of the Fusillade. It finally dawned on me that there was a regular and Heavy version as you pointed out. This threw me way off because it is still so early in the game. I'll go back and see if Britain is actually adopting that heavy version yet. This was a Homer Simpson D'oh moment!
Shiroe (o)(o) Dec 30, 2024 @ 3:52pm
Lol, it took me a moment to also realize that it was for the heavy variant.

I would also recommend that for the machine gun, you use the machine gun from the side loading research and change out the stock for a -1 gunner stock. That way your tank only has a 5 gunner requirement instead of 10, what saves an entire crew slot.

The fusilade was the first tank I got a good score on, after starting new game with the patch. (1600+) rest have been 600-700 max.

Currently working on the heavy version.
I suppose I need to unlock a different turret to get higher front richochet.

Gonna restart again. I invested way too much energy into trying to make a regular hull match the stats of a Mark V, and lost other opportunities doing so. However, I did learn a lot about tweaking and manipulating parts and pieces. As for the machine gun stock advice, I don't have all the right tech and bits yet, so I still need 2 gunners each.
