Ok? This is basic first tank you can assemble of the components already unlocked.

I just did that with no issue - are you sure you are not trying to assemble a tank with a too weak engine? What exactly are you trying to build?
Brah really, how do you plant two male gun holds plus two naval guns plus a mg. Show me the picture where you dont have a weight overload.
With that setting you get 4 defects
Obstical trench width
transportability
operational range
road speed
and a 5th in running gear
with a maximum crew of 5 people.
So? Most tank designs have defects when you first design them. Take the tank to the proving ground like everyone else does. After the proving ground is complete you can correct the defects, your post is a complete non-issue.
Do you think every tank design ever made in history started out perfect and that problems didn't have to be troubleshooted and fixed?
You are playing a game that requires you to use your brain a little bit. I suggest you start doing that
You are not going to make a perfect tank without any flaws straight out of design phase. That has been true for looong time now. Bourke has explained how you fix the flaws.
On off chance that you are a reading type of fellow - I have even made a guide with pictures explaining how to play the game - head to the guide section on the workshop.
You can also have much more than 5 people in a Mark I tank and crew members can split their responsibilities on two tasks (e.g. Mechanic and Gunner).
Hi Bae Watch
I can see that you already got some advice, hope it helps.
Just in the case, what lvl of difficulty you are playing and on what year is your design rejected?
On easy, medium and..probably even hard, the start-up design should be OK for starting "Vanguard" type contracts
If you are still experiencing troubles , feel free to send us your save file and description of the potential "bug".
Good luck
Edit:
I usually make two variants, one with male sponson and a armor plate on the other side, and a second variant with the female sponson and an armor plate. This way you can satisfy all early game contracts.
