Yes a game CAN BE a standalone expansion, just means it not as large as full title but can be played without a base product it just usually sold cheaper than a standalone game.

I say usually but there has been exceptions recently like Tiny Tina's Wonderland which cost more than Boderlands 3, but now I am going off on a tangent.

Im sorry you were fooled by a PR team's made up terminology but that's false, those are just half-baked stand alone games sold to you at varrying prices. Bethesda is no stranger to this practice as even death of the outsider was sold 30% cheaper than a full retail game with 50% content of its prequel.

expansion: dependent entity, requires base game to play.

stand alone: can be played without owning other products.

There is zero overlap between these as such a "standalone expansion" is a nonsense.

as such a game coming out in the uncharted series which is not dependent on owning another game to play it would be standalone and thus a sequel. I know youre well aware of this because
