no actually it isnt, their storytelling is very weak often incoherent. uncharted 3 is an entire game foreshadowing sully dying and then he doesn't die... There's a fake out death and its over moments later. uncharted 4 is about lying to your wife then she just get over it in 2 minutes. Tlou2 is pure garbage. the strengths of 1-3 were their set pieces, having strong scripted linear sequences in a time when everything was open world.
God of war's story is very wishy washy but its combat overall is pretty decent. And at least in GoW they let you skip the 20 minutes of forced walking sequences that happens constantly.
the combat was flashy which I agree with you but it is not on par nor superior than 3. the enemy variety didn't help either but I fully sympathize with the devs since creating these assets takes a long time.
with that said I was too subjective on that. I still think gow remake is fine but I don't like the positive review bombing.
Im in the camp of "I enjoyed it for what it was, probably wont play it again and i hope the sequel improves on some of the issues the first had"
I'm not invested luckily so i wont be buying these.. I saw the movie and it was a bad version of National Treasure.. Not for me.
The movie was just a quick cash grab. Pure garbage that made no justice to the real story and it didn't even need to be Uncharted in order to be the movie it was. They merely used the trademark to attrack morons to watch it on the big screen.
That depends on the game. Sometimes the game isn't fully story driven, so you can begin your journy on the newer game and enjoy the more advanced technology and new mechanics. Then, if you loved it, you can go back to the first titles of the franchise and appreciated it. Sadly, this is no the case for Uncharted on PC.
I haven't played it, but my guess is that the people who told you that were right. This "GoW" is a reused character thrown into another world/mythology. Apparently after killing every greek god for revenge for his family, Playstation did a silly reboot. It's a "new" thing. Not having played the actual GoW from 1 to 3 shouldn't hinder your experience.
its not a reboot though its a direct sequel of those games. Its not even a "soft reboot" cause the events of those games relates directly to the new one. Not that any of that matters the combat is why you play god of war, all the more reason it shouldn't lean so heavily on useless story stuff
I see. Also, true.
We would need to find a proper word for it since reboot doesn't fully cover it. They completely changed the game and kept the name. It's not the same thing, it derives from it, but doesn't fully drink from it, argh... It's a convoluted mess. In the end, it's just one of those mediocre cash grab games that someone slapped a famous name on it just for the easy sell.
Yeah. I know the feeling. I get super bothered when TV shows ran by idiots misued a flashback or flashfoward.
I did play all 3 uncharted games but I can tell you now, 4 is it's own story. Yes, seeing the references from the previous games would help to have played it, but it goes back to the story of 4.
