How many aaa games have avx2 requirement beside uncharted
as the title says beside this game i have not encountered avx 2 req before and if u say u should know by saying it says i5 4 th gen poeple thin it terms of raw power not what instruction set it has or not for eg when i say 19 13900k or amd r9 7950 x are fast cpus
not that oh intel does not suport avx 512 so r9 is better

Don't Know buddy Which AAA Games Support this Avx2 or Avx but from the Past I can tell your Techlands the developers of Dying Light 2 removed this Avx and Provied a AVX Fix Patch and Horizon Zero Dawn Also Had AVX Issue So the Devs Removed it and Patched the Game So there is no Need of AVX in General Please hear me out Remove this AVX2 requirement

my problem is that in the sys req are similar to spider man remastred which is also a ps5 port
which doesnt have avx 2 req but run flawlessly on older cpus but the problem they listed a cpu genration not specific instruction set requirmnet which is casuing issue if it said forom first like cpus must have avx2 and be better or same as i5 4 th gen minimum doesn't mean the game will only work it a suggestion if u hve this hardware game will run upto a playable standrad if u are below it is upto to you if u think it is upto your game play standard

I mean maybe there is a reason this game needs avx2, for example emulators need it for better performance, acurracy and compatibily and of course stability, so less crashes with better speed, some skyrim mods needed (I've testing a lot of recent mods lately, and they needed for better physics performance and collisions) And then there is this keyboard rgb software that also uses avx2 for some reason.

So I don't think this is because "programmed obsolence" or whatever.

Google says it offers a 2x 8% uplift in code so i guess its faster and saves time for troubleshooting. You need a 10yr old cpu to encouter this problem. They cant expect to play a 2022 game on a 10yr old CPU. Would Sony support the PS3? Nope they focus on a 5yr lifespan typically. I think asking for DX12 and AVX2 is perfectly reasonable. If it costs too much then buy a PS5. If you cant afford 599 PS5 or to upgrade a 10yr old CPU then should you really be demanding to play late AAA 2022 games?

This could be an internal choice between paying staff to support 10yr old hardware or spending that time on game fixes. Id rather have the game fixed before they look at spending time on AVX2.

Excellent points all around! :-)

so you are saying other compaines are wasting money for cod mw 2 which i amplaying 60 fps high i5 3rd gen should implement avx2 since if it provides boost why is it not stated in thwe sys requirment of steam page when staing it is in tream of processing power not what instruction sets it has avx 512 should better than avx2 why not use avx 512

They need to add it to the Steam page yes. But i have reservations about them spending development time on support extremely outdated ten year old processors instead of the ten or so fixes we already need. Its a waste of money unless you all cover the costs of these fixes. We dont know the numbers behind AVX demand and second are there consequences for modern processors? Can AVX2 and AVX1 coexist? And with no performance penalty on a 2022 CPU? If yes to both then sure fix AVX2 but if no then i think ita waste of time money and performance.

Yeah but the thing is and some of you don't understand, is that avx2 is not a 2022 thing, it's a 2014 thing, released with the intel 4th gen processors so it's 8 year old, so they are supporting old cpus anyway at least not as old as sandy or ivy but is still old, i mean people can just buy an i7 4790 for 60 usd and a z87 MB for just 100 usd, so it's not a really expensive upgrade if they really want to play this game. I mean if they managed to play a lot of games with old ass 10yo cpu like the 2600 or 3770. why not just doing an small cheap sidegrade.

So AS i said before, what i find weird is they are using avx2, this is an obscure thing to use that i've only found in some emulators and skyrim mods, so it's weird that a full native PC game is using it now, and 8% faster perfomance from avx 2 is nothig compared to the wooping 50% performance increase from an avx512 codeset (at least theorically).

the only reason why i think this game needs avx 2 is because this game is a direct ps4 port, not a ps5 one, since avx2 and the ps4 have the same age (2013-2014), maybe they used some old ps4 code and the only way to optimize it for pc is running it through and avx2 instruction.

with that said, i think we wont see an avx2 fix ever for this game, people should really upgrade. or at least sidegrade to a 4th gen cpu if they really want to play this game on PC.

ps4 cpus don't even have avx 2 support bro and this ps 5 port similar to spider-man remastered and also god of war 2018 days gone and horzion zero are ps4 ports yet worked perfectly fine there is still no been a solid prroof why this ps 5 port require avx 2

if it used old ps4 code it would still not needed avx 2

Guys the Last of Us will require AVX2 as well. AVX512 hss been removed by Intel so AVX2 will be used going forward. 8% and x2 is a decent performance gain. Why would you use AVX1 if you got AVX2?

A small number of people dont have AVX1, And its easy to get around. A used 4770k is like 50 dollars or less and the PS5 is 599 dollars.

No one said to drop AVX2. We said add alternate instructions for AVX2 parts of the code for older CPUs. Users with newer CPUs will still benefit from AVX2, as it will be detected and the appropriate set used. Users with older CPUs will just use the alternate route. It's been done before, no need to complain it adds overhead to devs' work. It's not even about Naughty Dog, it's about Iron Galaxy doing their porting job properly and shipping the game compatible for everyone.

WOW you quoted and still didn't read what you were quoting, they said that maybe the only way to """OPTIMIZE""" the code was to use AVX2.... as in AVX2 was added to optimize the code.........

They do, they list the minimum required CPU, are you actually implying that devs should add every single CPU instruction set required to run the game on their store page?
