99% GPU Usage
My GPU (6900 XT) is always used 99%. Even if i lover the graphics to low or activate FSR. GPU is getting quite hot in this state...

Obviously, that's how GPUs work. 99% GPU usage is a good sign that your PC is well balanced.

If you don't like it you can enable Vsync or set a FPS cap in your GPUs driver.

yeah by default that's what gpu's are supposed to do. It's not bad and your card won't over heat (unless you have a poorly ventilated case). It's also not bad for your card either, If it does get to hot there are things in place to throttle it or even shut down if it has to.

The main thing this says about your system though is that your gpu bottlenecked (atleast for this game) If you are not frame limiting your games and run them unlocked and your gpu isn't at 100% getting better cpu would give you more performance.

The point is your system is fine and is working how it's supposed too.

I never had this issue (i have the 6900xt since release), even in games like RDR2 (all maxed out) with upscale resolution or Cyberpunk2077 (all maxed out).
I already caped the FPS to 60fps.
It's just kind of weird for a game, that got average graphics, to push the temp of the GPU above 80°.

lol GPU are supposed to run at 99%....otherwise that means your CPU is a bottleneck....
Gamerwillz Oct 21, 2022 @ 2:03pm
Full GPU load is actually a good thing! It means the game is perfectly optimised and you have no CPU bottleneck.

Why the hell would you want lower GPU usage? You paid for your GPU and you want it to be used well and fully...

MY 3070 is generally in the 50c range, usage around 75%
CPU (3900x) averages around 30% usage at 67c

It's a pretty smooth experience over here.

Temps over 80 means that you're not cooling your graphics enough. This is kind of toasty unless you're in a warm climate.

Having a card running at a 100% is normal though and it should work that way. Either that or you're throttling the card somehow.

I'm also getting 99% on GPU utilization but I'm sure it's radeon's adrenalin overlay reporting incorrectly. I checked windows task manager, it was actually around 80% and when I locked it to 30fps, windows also reported GPU utilization lowered by half, even though radeon's overlay still reporting 99%. I had incorrect reporting in some games when I had geforce previously and used nvidia's overlay, so it can happen with any GPU, it seems.

This is not an issue at all.

You can use Radeon Chill feature to limit FPS and therefore GPU utilization too.

Thats certainly true but If i have a game that renders in the multiple hundreds or even thousands (like sidescroller with no limitation) its not a bad idea to cap it at 144 or whatever the max Hz of your monitor is, If you can run a game perfectly wihtout 100% power usage, give it a break and cut watt consumption and increase lifetime massively .

lol I though PC gamers knew how their hardware is suppose to be working.

Everyone starts somewhere. Why dont you give some tips instead of being plain toxic? :3

What are you people talking about that full GPU usage is good and "optimized"? Full GPU load = input lag

? really, my 6950XT is at 99% it's how it's supposed to work if you max the settings out ..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CooB4CPcDRU thats my video on it, thats maxed settings, GPU pegged at 99%, but the FPS is 100-150 ..so I fully expect it to be pegged at 99% ...

If a game DOESN'T do that thats when I get concerned, like the terrible performance of Gotham Knights, it's not pushing my GPU, it's sitting at 60% on that game with maxed settings with RT on and only hitting 80 FPS, so if it was really pushing it like it should be I would be at 100+ fps with that game ...

Also with AMD there is an input lag setting in the GPU control panel and it's supposed to reduce it when you turn it on.
