EDIT: SORTED OUT!! I downgraded the video driver and it worked!!! Thank you so much partner!!!!
Did you follow the steps exactly as described in the link?
I'm glad it works
I think there will be a patch coming out one day to fix the problem
Tried installing the suggested driver. Crashed when the enemies came instead of when I grabbed the thing.
My game crashed just before that spot (last night) but I was able to go back in and carry on, using the administrator trick. I got slightly past that point and then quit because I needed some sleep. Will go back in later this evening...
otherwise i just see a few pictures of high-def characters faces then it crashes
After I restored default display settings it didnt crash anymore for me. Dont know what caused it tho. Maybe the rendered resolution was too high. I didnt lagg tho.
Traditionally the recommendation was to set it fixed to system memory size, and that's what I had.
Anyway, just sharing what worked for me, might help somebody else in the same situation.
If you have a better solution, please do not hesitate to share.
This worked for me:
Possible (easy) fix for crashing to desktop on game start:
If your hardware meets the required specs (this is not a avx2 fix) and you get the problem of an almost instant "back to desktop" (after some pictures being shown, not even reaching the menu), just do this:
"Disable Fullscreen Optimizations" in the game exe's compatibility tab.

On a side note, initial loading of a new game takes a while, compiling the shaders is really slow.
