it's a fairly common requirement for better or worse, but if you're already on windows may as well just upgrade your OS.

I'm not on Win7. The requirements on steam and naughtydog.com just says Win10.

I'm having the same issue with this game and halo infinite. I'm on windows 10 and i'm up to date (version 22H2) so idk why this message pops up when trying to start. At least halo still starts up when i hit play, this game wont start unless i go into the steam folder and start it manually so I just made a desktop short cut.

just realized i bought a key labeled "ROW" for region and not "Global / North America by accident (it said it works in the united states, but maybe this is the issue). I bought Halo from Steam though and that does it too, so maybe not. only 2 games I've had issues with.

EDIT FIX FOUND:

Click on Start

Search for "Steam"

Right click on "Steam" and pick "Open File Location"

Do a right click on the Steam-icon, select Properties

Go to "Compatibility" - Tab

Disable "Run the program in compatibility mode for".

Click "OK"

Exit Steam by doing a right click on the Steam-Icon near the clock, choose "exit".

Start Steam again and see if that helps.

I have no idea why but steam some how went into compatibility mode for windows 8 lol. I even re installed steam which didnt help, but following these steps fixed the problems for this game and halo infinite

I dont know if there is any proper reason, that it have to be played on win10. I got win 8.1 and i know its ♥♥♥♥, but i just simply like it, and dont want to change (i tried win 10, i even bought this ♥♥♥♥ for 140 pounds, finished diablo 2 resurrected, and switched back to 8.1).
