High CPU usage
Does anyone have experienced the same thing? I have a i7 4790K CPU combined with 1070 Ti and 16 GB RAM. I am using Windows 10 64 Bit. The CPU usage is very high even if i lower the settings. The game doesn't lag but it feels weird.

Same happens to me. i7 8809G / 3060 Ti / 16 GB RAM.
CPU is at 100% constantly, even in the main menu.

The CPU time cost per frame in this game is really high if your memory subsystem is not high-performance (i.e. DDR5 platform or a 5800X3D CPU). This is commonplace when porting 1st party PS4 and PS5 games to PC since console games are built around the tremendous memory bandwidth they have available thanks to their shared memory pool.

How does that explain 100% usage when the game is paused, or even in the main menu?

I have the same problem. The game is near 100% all the time, and that causes constant stutters (including audio!).

The only time I have this is when shaders are compiling.

I don't think so. It's above the recommended CPU.

ddr3 ram more than anything. What those ram specs are, are super important inorder to still be using a 4790k also.

By the way, if anyone has stutter issues due to heavy CPU load, it really helps to lock the frame rate to 60. I get 100fps or very close in many scenes, but every time the CPU hits its limit, image and audio stutter. Capping to 60fps has solved it so far (even though I really would have prefered to play with a higher frame rate).

Same, have cpu and gpu at 100%. Before any patch i played easily at 80 to 100 fps but now im struggling to get 50-60 no mather the settings which is also weird since the frames are the same at low and ultra graphics ...

The main menu / pause menu have in-engine background running.

Let the shaders compile.

Lol your CPU sucks of course it'll be playing catch up

i7 4790K sucks? Sure, mate. It is above the recommended CPU. Now tell me how it sucks.

They are done, that's not the issue.

Oh no! high usage?! That means it's like being used and stuff, that's awful!

You're not getting what the problem is. The game has _unusually_ high CPU usage. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a comparable game, and it uses like half.

When you lower settings the bottleneck shifts from the gpu to the cpu, when you raise settings the main bottleneck becomes the GPU.

Sounds like a huge bottleneck, just play on the highest settings your card can handle and your CPU should go back to normal. If you end up lowering the settings, all you're doing is putting load on the CPU.
There are tons of videos explaining CPU/GPU bottlenecks, what i'm seeing is you're putting stress on a CPU that can't handle rendering the frames you want. I suggested rising the graphics or, capping your FPS
