For the past 2 years when browsing the Steam Community pages, I got an impression that majority of users are using RTX3090.

thats not what i find weird. its the way this post is structured. like that person just made the post to tell anyone he is running the game in 8k with a 4090. there is no real meaning behind this

Not even close.

Also 66% of Steam users are still gaming at 1080p.

My point was that people with 3090ies had to tell the world that they have 3090 even if the problem clearly had nothing to do with GPU.

I get what you mean, but its not an unreasonable expectation for a modern release, tbh.

Sure, that's been the same withe very gen of GPUs, we had it with the 1080ti, 2080ti, and Titans as well.
That's not what's annoying about it though, it's when a game has legit performanace issues and these arseholes jump into threads calling everyone a liar because the game runs at an acceptable framerate on an £800-1500+ card.

Since I don't own the game, I don't know, but - if the game has resolution scaling, maybe its possible to run the game @4k and set the scaling to 200%? Not sure if visuals would be the same as 8k native, but the performance hit should be identical.

I did try both native 8k and via resolution scaling , unfortunately it crashes immediately and no its no a weird flex , I sold my 3090 for 1500 at the right time and payed only 500 bucks for the 4090 whats your problem guys lol . I wanted to try out 8k because it runs way too good in 4k and for me 8k looks way better

Hi, I can confirm this. I have a RTX 4090. At 8K the game crashes to desktop.

Perhabs it does not have enough vram , allthough the usage is "only 21gb"

But good news hdr has been Patched and is now implemented once you enable it in windows :) looks awesome now

yes it will crash at 8k.
just drop it down a bit and the game works. Theres no visible difference anyway.

So OP has a 4090 and a 8k TV to go with it ...

He could be using DSR to upscale to 8k from a 1440p or 4K display.

you dont need an 8k tv. you do need plenty of power though.
What you do get are the extra pixels even when its then rendered down to 4k native.
Add into that DLDSR at max and youve got even more pixels. DLDSR makes a big difference to PQ.
its all about those pixels.
Not many games can be rendered up to 8k. Odyssey looks awesome when render is maxed out to 200 from the default 100. This gives you all the pixels of 8k but without the TV.
Compare the image quality between render at default and then doubled to 200. Theres a big difference.
Until you have tried it then you wont know.
