I have never played an Uncharted game before. Do I need to play the others before this one? I like story driven games.

Yes, but you might as well watch the original trilogy on YouTube.

Its not neccessary, but if you know Uncharted 1-3 you know the characters and their relationships and understand some references.

Yes and no.
This is a complete new game, you can follow it without playing the other ones.
That being said, you will miss the bonding between the characters.
There are allot of emotions in this game, and you probably sometimes not completely understand why some characters are salty because of older advantures together.
They have history.

Playing part 4 only will still give you a beautiful story (one of my favorite games this one)
It will make you happy, sad, angry.
But playing the previous parts, this game will hit you much harder with nostalgia.

You could play the spin off, but Uncharted 4 is the end of Drake's journey. Missing his prior adventures would make his conclusion rather unsatisfactory.
