How do you start VR?

If you're Oculus.
Got to Oculus PC Home in VR.
Go to desktop view on dashboard. Open Steam (not SteamVR) and Hitman 3 page. Hit Play. Window opens for Hitman 3 with buttons for Play or Options. Hit Play. Starts the game in the window. Asks me if I want to play in VR. Hit Yes. Then I'm in.

If you're trying to start it from SteamVR, after launching the game you need to click on "Play" on the Hitman 3 launcher that appears on the desktop, and then once the game has launched and displayed the videos it plays on launch you need to then select the option to switch to VR mode.

Yes, the game does not start in VR mode when launched from within SteamVR or StemVR Home... You have to interact with the game on your desktop to get it to switch to VR mode...

I usually use VirtualDesktop Dashboard in the Steam overlay in SteamVR to interact with the game until it's in VR mode. I assume that SteamVR's own desktop view would work as well, but I've had issues with it since the last major update to it, so I use third-party overlay software instead.

yes, the program named hit man 3, listed in steam library as hitman world of assassination.
there is no option for vr mode through virtual desktop>steam vr
edit not only that, but windows mixed reality, as some guides suggested makes steam vr unable to launch
