Do not quit the game forceably
So... Are you serious, IO?
I had to leave while playing my second showdown.
So I closed the game. Nothing to it, I thought. The game once crashed and my progress was still there after restarting. Then I reopened my game after returning home and now my entire campaign progress is terminated. And I lost not only my mission inventory but for some reason items displayed in the hideout as well? Why?

That is just stupid. Sorry that I have a real life and had to go outside, I guess.

I get that it's there to prevent quit scumming but come on. If you can do it while hunting Elusive Targets, you should be able to do it in Freelancer. Who cares. You know what, in general, you should be able to close your game without losing hours of progress.

Yea, but it's dumb.

The thing is the stability/bug-free-ness of Hitman does not really justify any "no save/load" modes. There are shot detection bugs, vision bugs and general crashes. There were even kill targets who decides to walk outside of the map. (I had that in a showdown, luckily it was before the Alt-F4 ban)

And instead of fixing the real issues IOI decides to make the game super hardcore, to the point that we have no way to even overcome these bugs.

Also a very good point.
Nearly got stuck between some barrels. Luckily I got out but if I there was no way out then... well.

The other day I got stuck behind a market cart on Marrakesh in the middle of a Silent Assassin Suit Only run. Couldn't get out, legit had no way of progressing the game without dying or hitting Alt+F4 and starting over.

Cool to know I can't do that any more, and if the game bugs out or I have to leave I'm just screwed now.

I got stuck in the hairdresser in Sapienza an hour or so ago, on a showdown... Walked passed the seated customer to grab the scissors on the counter, she stood up, and I was wedged between the hairdresser, the wall and the customer, who had stood up to protest my being so close. She went into a loop of telling me to leave, then sitting back down, then standing back up to protest my position again.
This went for about a minute or so, and just before I gave up, she teleported slightly out of alignment as she stood back up, and I could squeeze past.

I had already failed the mission before that to the new ALT+F4 ban, so if I'd had to fail the whole thing due to a AI loop bug, I'd have been really annoyed. Like delete the game from my computer level annoyed.

I agree this Alt F4 being gone is not that great but it is to prevent sweaty players who abuse it
If you "have a life" you're a minority amongst gamers lol (and you don't mind calling others no life! for some of us our job is on our computer meaning we have more time playin games...) I think they didn't consider the minority of players but I think they should

anyways ,I personally don't start a mission if I'm not sure I have enough time and I advise you do the same in the current state , I have friends who start a 30 minute online multiplayer match and leave mid game because they're late to work etc , well , don't start the mission in the first place if you're late, missions in freelancer wouldn't be taking longer than 15-20 mins at the slowest

for elusive targets however , I believe it's a good thing not to be in place , I got to rank 1 globally on a few missions on the leaderboard after finding the path yet I like to play elusive targets without knowing anything about em and try my best in the 1 run I have , but my friends who abused this Alt F4 thing who can barely get to rank 10000 in normal missions have better scores in elusive targets lmao

one last thing , yesterday I exit to menu mid-game in freelancer , and when I got back to freelancer it was in the preplanning room without anything being lost , not sure if it's a bug or it's somehow an equivalent to Alt F4 , I suggest you try getting offline , exiting to menu and seeing if you lose that mission (if you have low merces and no items carried to the mission of course!)

If the area is alerted and you lose, you lose your freelancer crates (the one with explosives, poisons, and gadgets and fail the campaign. So if you quit out in the middle of an alerted mission, that is what happened.

I get where your coming from but the slight removal of alt+f4 was healthy for the mode, people were more often abusing it then having their game crash. The mode is supposed to be about playing the hand you were dealt so I understand why IOI wants to remove this safety net.

Alt+F4 is still there however, you either have to do it twice without opening the pause menu, or you just minimize the game and use task manager. I've been playing without alt+f4 since the patch and I can say the experience is quite a bit better (thou can be frustrating but I think adding a kind of "spectate" practice kind of mode for Freelancer would be the answer to this, so that players could properly plan and not get screwed over by one random NPC pathing in the wrong spot)

If you are playing Freelancer and you have to go, I would recommend just ducking into a crate and pausing the game to come back later, or just finishing the mission ASAP and ignoring payout objectives (IE Just shooting targets in the head and leaving, there is no bonus for silent assassin in Freelancer unless it is an objective). Or just using the task manager if time is really that tight.

You can still practice elusive targets by just not completing the objectives, I feel the alt+f4 change for elusive targets would be a bit redundant. Again, it'd be better if they have a spectate mode for people to plan rather then having to abuse alt+f4.

spectate mode can be a cool thing especially for freelancer , but for elusive , I think the whole point of it is being as realistic as hitman can be , one chance , no indicator on the target etc

I'm not playing with you in a lobby. I'm playing a single player game at home.
I DO NOT CARE ABOUT RANKING. Maybe they just need to make a special leaderboard version for people like you. Ya know, THE SWEATY PLAYERS who care about ranking.
Only a sweaty player would care about some ranking crap.
I'm a guy who wants to come home and play for a bit when I have time. Maybe when it's raining and I can't get yard work done I want to come in and do a mission.
WITHOUT BEING PUNISHED.
IT IS SINGLE PLAYER!
The whole concept and idea you're trying to present here doesn't exist TO NORMAL PEOPLE. Just sweaty players like you.
Why shouldn't I be able to save a game I paid for and get up to do something in my life?

What nobody enjoys is having to stop playing, and being punished in the game because they have a real life, and have to leave the game to live it once in a while.
Not only that, but the game is riddled with problems. Just look at the forums.
When your game has problems, I shouldn't be punished for it.
When the game glitches and I'm 13 feet from the exit on a mission.
I shouldn't have to log back on to a failure message, have things taken away, and lose money. Most important though, after robbing me of my time with this glitchy crap, you then think it's ok to punish me also?
Funny I thought I was already being punished with a game that crashes constantly, has NPC glitches, and has so many patch over issues that many missions and achievements can no longer be completed.
We try to talk about it. People like you want to tell us about our play style.
Want to tell us to get gud, want to tell us to stop being sweaty.
You mean like you're being in the forums?
Just stop...
You don't know jack about my play style junior.

The fact of the matter is that I shouldn't be punished for poor game optimization.
Which is what happens when I'm playing and have crashes and glitches.
Then I'm punished again by the game after experiencing their poor optimization.
I had to pay for this product....
In your mind it's all ok though. Otherwise you wont be able to tell everybody who doesn't care about you ranking in something we don't give a damn about...
Are you ok? Is there somebody in the household with you? Do you need a welfare check?

tell me you need help without telling me you need help lmao...if you have enough time and care about leaderboards you go for it if not it's fine , it doesn't mean we're enemies and no one should feel bad about the other person's perspective and playstyle...but again , I disagree the game forces players to be online , I never said it's a perfect game cause it's in the favors of sweats , I'm not a sweat I'm just good at the game because I played Hitman since 2016 on consoles...I have around 200 hours in 6 months of playtime and people calling me a sweat is funny... I never said the things you're saying I did lmao...when did I say "being punished with a game that crashes constantly, has NPC glitches, and has so many patch over issues that many missions and achievements can no longer be completed" is fine to ANY degree ?!?! you and I both paid for the game (I didn't ! some nice guy gifted it to me since I was playin okish at Hitman 2 and was his competition on leaderboard and wanted to compete , still don't know why a stranger is so kind towards me ,I'm thankful to him) and we SHOULD get what's promised , no one said glitches and constant crashes and bugs are fine , you have the right to even sue them on their false promises ! I just said that one chance for elusive targets ( having one chance REGARDLESS of the crashes and bugs that unfairly cause you to lose!) makes sense , and it doesn't mean bugs and crashes should be in place , you're sayin because there are bugs and glitches lets just get rid on elusive targets being a one time thing...nope, THE GLITCHES THEMSELVES SHOULD BE PATCHED...NOT TO LOSE IT"S SOUL BECAUSE GLITCHES HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY...

"In your mind it's all ok though. Otherwise you wont be able to tell everybody who doesn't care about you ranking in something we don't give a damn about..."
again , false accusations , you must be proud lmao...I myself couldn't play the damn game for 2 months thanks to online only being broken as hell and I just got back to the game for a week now, meaning I'm also against most of their stuff...and NO ONE said you SHOULD/DO care about smth , it's a discussion and I expected to have a chat with mature people who realize everyone have the right to talk about themselves as well , it's called "bragging rights" and I can say I'm good at the game anywhere and anytime I want meaning it's none of your business when it doesn't violate your rights ok ?...;)

"Are you ok? Is there somebody in the household with you? Do you need a welfare check?"
open your damn eyes as well , I have way less playtime than a normal player than a sweat has (I respect sweats as well , yeah some of em are lifeless but again , not my business and definitely not your business to call them names kid...)
I earn more money than you think simply because I don't work 5-9 , I trade stocks , I edit videos , I photoshop etc etc only by sitting at my desk while I have my food ready by my household people...
I earn around 10K USD per week and I laugh hilariously about no brainers like you who think they can succeed and reach somewhere by working HARD but without a brain LMFAO...
I unsubscribed from this thread meaning I won't be recieving notifications of your nonsense, keep fighting the air and be proud kid , but be aware , next time you wanted to disrespect someone , make sure you know them well otherwise they'll sh*t on you lmao...

dude is saying his not a sweat and I am a sweat , and when you look at our first comments you can clearly see he's more of a RADICAL person than I can ever be , get off my face kid , you seem to need more emotional support from your parents or your ex-partners lmao...

one last thing , no one was talking to you in this discussion LMFAO... we were talking about elusive targets and freelancer punishing people or not , and not all the crap you mentioned , glitches , bugs , crashes , them being greedy with their DLCs etc may have another discussion and I certainly am against the game on those matters , keep your sht together lmao...also , it doesn't take thousands of hours on the game to get good , you just need to have a brain to be able to do most of the challenges and realize simple techniques and methods in your few play sessions as it's mostly a puzzle game , not an action shooter in general , thank god it has a free demo and you can play it before sayin nonsense..."different leaderboards for different players" proved you have 0 knowledge on how games work , if someone cares about leaderboards and bragging rights (and says regardless of your childish feelings being hurst cause you SUCK at the game LMFAO...) does it , and if someone doesn't which is fine , he CAN NOT say "Eh ehh ehhh I want my own leaderboard , ehh ehh and I'm gonna be first and the BEST against the toddlers and grannys , hooray" lmao...
you PROUD Americans are funny , aren't you one of those who say earth is flat ? (80% of flat earthers are from The USA LMFAO they are the most geniune people on earth , also , 75% of their inventors and geniuses are NOT from The USA and ARE immigrants LMFAO yet their proud of em selves , dude is probably working 5-9 for 3K a month and earn that amount in 2-3 days by sitting at my desk doing VALUABLE work for people instead of makin em sandwiches and hey kid , thread carefully , there were 12 thousand people shot dead in the last year and 6 thousand of em were in USA , broken society that never reaches Australia , your country is literally walking dead except you have hoods and braindead people like you ) I probably am going to get a community ban for a week or two on this and I know it , because I know how the platform works , not like this braindead 17yo kid who has gene deficiency and lack of good parenting and relationships (thank god I have alot of decent people around me! even the game itself was gifted to me even though I could buy it myself easily, it's the money of less than an hour of working cause I'm not brainfked to work 5-9 like him and being proud of nothing XD) fun fact: he is a broke kid at his parents house who talks about games being 4-5$ cheaper or more expensive than they should be , what kind of a broke are you ?! needed some help , just email me if you're willing to find it (it's a bet , I'm serious! find my email info and send "ItSmE" and I'll surprise you kid) and I send you a few thousand bucks so you may finally see smth BEYOND the money lmfao...

Sometimes you don't know how much time you have and need to leave your desk.
That's life. And it wasn't my intention to insult anyone. I just argued for common sense.
it's logical, at least to me, that you can't always predict what might happen during/outside of a game. I think it's dumb to punish that. Well, not only that, but also when the game itself is soft locking you due to bugs for example.

In the end, it's a game. It's supposed to be fun.
Sure, the fun can come from a challenge. But it shouldn't actively waste your time.

IDK why the devs do this, IN ANY GAME for that matter. ITS A SINGLE PLAYER GAME, WHY DO YOU CARE IF SOMEONE ALT F4's
