Free Starter Pack > Part One + Upgrade and this is what happened.
I now have WOA standard so all is good there. However, when making both purchases I was asked to install Part One (75GB) and the Upgrade (another something GB) when I already have the Free Starter Pack installed (60GB) which I assumed was the entire WOA standard, just with locked content. I declined both and the outcome is that I now have two items in my Steam Library - Free Starter Pack and WOA. I can't load WOA cause it's not installed, however, loading FSP now gives me access to WOA standard which is what I purchased. I expected WOA to replace FSP in my Steam Library but it didn't.

*** If anyone knows of any issues this might cause please let me know, or even how to fix it so I only have one item in my Steam Library (WOA) that loads WOA standard.

*** Can they both be merged somehow?

Unfortunately no, they are listed as different games in the library for some reason I don't know.

^ It should not have even asked me to install, but rather just detect the FSP in my library and simply replace it. Anyway all good, I'll just load the FSP whenever I want to play, which is weird, but whatever.

Sadly iOi implements sales stunt that have no idea of how it works.

As a result instead of providing a strait forward buyer experience they continuously create bureaucratic roadbloack to the users.
Part One shouldn't even be on the store page to start with.

I would refund both purchase and wait when the full package goes on sale.

The only reason I do not own this game is that buying it requires research. I'd rather use that time playing a different game.

The ioi business or marketing manager is a convoluted idiot that deserves to work on cellphone plans, not video games.

The same thing will probably happen again - end up with two items in my steam library. The only sure-fire way to do it, which i think is what you mean, is to uninstall the free starter pack and do a fresh download/install of woa standard when it's discounted.

Same. When the developer changes the name of the game that you added to your wishlist to lure you in with questionable (at best) marketing practices, well, that's how you get deleted off my wishlist. ♥♥♥♥ this company

Buying Homeworld World of Assassination will unlock the Starter Pack into the full game.

If for some reason you still have the Starter Pack listed in your library, just hide it or remove it from your account.

That should do the trick.
