Otherwise, there's no reason to. The campaigns just cycle and toggling difficulty will wipe your merces and toolbox

You only reset weapons collections in special notebook after 60 levels of Mastery, when you open all weapons - Prestige level.
After reset you must collect all weapons again.
You take Exp after reset on 3,5,7,10 level Pestige and get challenges. You may reset and take new level of Prestige, but you do not Exp.

And why would you even want to? It's not like you can't turn everything to defaults if that's how you wanted to leave it

Yep, you can't. I think only possible way is to request to remove personal data. BUT you will lose everything, all progress.
In this case is better just create new Steam account and family share account. You will have new progress on new account.
