If you aren't good enough at it yet, master all the challenges in the campaign and then do a few hundred contracts in contracts mode, those have reset buttons.
No, look, I know how to play the game, I do succeed in it, it's just an insane amount of trial and error is needed to understand, not how to play, but how everything works exactly --- The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bomb phone - you need to know how it works, how the ai interacts with it, how it works, in order to use it at all - thats like 5 different alt-f4's just to get a good idea how it interacts with everything / or 5 fails in a playthrough - I learned how that works, beat the level I was on - but it's just so ridiculous. The Ai is just garbage in this game. They are TOO alert and aware.
If you're still learning how the tools work, you haven't mastered the game and probably don't belong in freelancer yet. You probably have 100 hours or less while the mode is aimed at people with 1000+ hours and endless experience with every aspect of contracts mode to the point they can adapt on the fly in freelancer without needing to learn on the job.
The simple fact you're learning in freelancer means you don't know the game very well, you should already know all of the tools inside and out from playing the main game and contracts mode. You're playing the end game loop mode without having mastered the basics.
The bomb phone has been in the game since 2016, freelancer came out many years after that. This is what I'm talking about, you don't actually know the game very well.
Google : " Hitman 3 was revealed at the PlayStation 5 reveal event in 2020, and released in January 2021 "
Freelancer has put me in a lot of situations where I am really curious about trying new things that I hadn't run into in the main game, such as booby trapping doors with nitroglycerin on the handles. I think in part because silent assassin no longer is a real concern, and the parts of the map used by targets is much bigger.
I'd much rather have a game with that kind of freedom where I can still come up with new tricks after years of playing, than one where I know everything in 40 hours.
That said, there are pleanty times where I decide a challenge or a clean kill is to much effort and just toss a devil duck to my target and activate it once I get back to the map exit.
Also, I think some people are thinking of the electrocution phone instead of an exploding phone.

This game is not for you, no matter how much you hate it.
