Freelancer - Targets during Tell

Just need to be sure. When the game talks about targets during Tells in a showdown, it means activities assigned to them?
Like say the target is a smoker, so whenever he/she smokes and the appropriate icon popus over his/her head, then he/she is during a Tell?

Yes. You have it correct.

Yes, on hardcore there won't be icons telling you when they are doing their tell. You can extend their tell too, emetic poisoning them while they do their tell and getting them while sick will generally grant the tell (I know it will if you organically poison a drinker but IDK with Sieker or other emetic tools).

I think sedating or even knocking them out will extend it until they get up too but I'm not 100% sure on this one.

Yes. I dont know about hardcore, but in regular mode, at least, NPCs will only have two tells, and any and all NPCs you see doing a tell that is not one of the two listed tells, you can mark them as "not suspect".

example:

Target is a smoker and reader

you see suspect drink

this means the suspect is a drinker- which means they are not the target
