All the remaining DLCs are only cosmetic or escalations missions which, if you don't like the ones that come in the base game, are not worth buying those DLCs.
So the £23.40 edition in the sale right now,is that the standard edition??
is that the one i should be buying to get into missions and campaigns ect for the best single player experience??
it is a little confusing to new players who are not clued up how the buying system works!
or do i just accept the fact i'm just a little stupid lol ...either way, some guidance for a single player would be very much appreciated
Well considering there isn't multiplayer all versions are a single player experience.
Personally though, unless you want to play now, I would just wait for the next major steam sale (27th June) and get the HITMAN World of Assassination Deluxe Edition for the most complete single bundle.
Of course you will still be missing the 5 paid DLC packs (not in any bundle) listed in the WOA store page DLC section but those you can pick up when/if you want.
- HITMAN 1 with all its DLC (GOTY Edition)
- HITMAN 2 (Standard Edition)
- HITMAN 3 (Standard Edition)
The only bad thing about this version is that it doesn't come with the content of HITMAN 2 Gold Edition so you'll have to buy the "HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 2 Expansion" DLC.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1829590/HITMAN_3_Access_Pass_HITMAN_2_Expansion/
This DLC is important as it will be necessary to experience the full story and have all the maps at your disposal (i.e. you will have HITMAN 2 Gold Edition If you buy this DLC).
- HITMAN 1 with all its DLCs (GOTY Edition)
- HITMAN 2 with all its DLCs (Gold Edition)
- HITMAN 3 with its DLCs for Seven Deadly Sins, Deluxe Escalations, and additional cosmetics (Deluxe Edition).

This pack is purely cosmetic, it does not present any kind of in-game advantage. You can search for videos or images and, if you're interested, you can buy it whenever you want.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2184790/HITMAN_3__Street_Art_Pack/?curator_clanid=41819667
This pack is purely cosmetic, the only advantage it brings with it is the Urban Sniper Rifle which is a reskin of the "Sieger 300 Ghost", when you buy this DLC it will make you have to skip doing the escalation mission to have one of the best sniper rifles (Still, that escalation is not difficult).
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2184791/HITMAN_3__Makeshift_Pack/?curator_clanid=41819667
This pack is purely cosmetic, I don't find anything remarkable about it.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2475260/HITMAN_3__Sarajevo_Six_Campaign_Pack/?curator_clanid=41819667
A DLC that was exclusive for a long time to the Playstation version, they are extremely easy missions and don't reward you with anything when you complete them. I only recommend it if you don't think it's too much to pay for it.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2828470/HITMAN_3__The_Undying_Pack/?curator_clanid=41819667
This DLC brings a Suit, tools (which are reskins of others already in the game) and an Arcade Mode mission that consists of 3 variants of the same Target.
BUT
Since I already own Part 1, can't I just buy the Hitman 3 Access Pass: Hitman 2 Expansion for $10 to get access to Hitman 2 and all its main stories?
NO. That will only get Haven Island & New York from the H2 Campaign.
If you want to upgrade (to the standard edition) you need the upgrade pack:
https://store.steampowered.com/sub/981937/
THEN, if you want the deluxe edition you'd need the WoA Deluxe Pack:
https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/30335/HITMAN_World_of_Assassination_Deluxe_Pack/
So if I want to have everything, I should just jump up to Deluxe and buy that? Or do I need to buy in order, so I get standard and THEN Deluxe?
No. You can't JUST buy the WoA Deluxe Pack and think you're getting the Deluxe Edition. It's just the DLC that enhances the standard edition. You need the Upgrade Pack if you want the H2 & H3 campaigns.
And you still won't have "everything". There's no package that offers that. There are still DLC, mostly cosmetic, that aren't in any package.
This specific advice is the most "bang for your buck" and what I ended up doing, highly recommend.
In my mind someone falls into 3 categories:
1) I don't know if I will like Hitman
Answer: buy WoA Part 1, gets you the first game which is excellent by itself.
2) I think I will like Hitman OR I want a good deal/value OR I own some of the previous games but not all (and want them to be consolidated in one spot)
Answer: Buy WoA Standard + the HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 2 Expansion DLC only, which has 95% of the content in all of the games in one spot with cross-unlocks and without launching separate games, AND has Freelancer, which is awesome. Great value and you can add more later if you really really want.
3) I just want everything right away
Answer: Buy the WoA Deluxe Edition (not pack) from the start, and add on any of the small handful of cosmetic-only packs as desired.
If you want to upgrade, things get a little more tricky, but generally most people are indeed best served by option #2 -- by far the best value. Yes, this doesn't give you credit if you owned previous games, and that does indeed suck and people are right to complain, but that's the IOI setup right now. Still consider WoA and option 2 specifically a good value. Think of it like a remaster or something.
