Mod SDK Menu flashes and does not display

I'm trying to piece together how to mod Hitman 3 so I can play the freelancer variations mod, and there's so little resources on how to do it.

I've installed the SMF and the SDK for the mod, I've installed Simple Mod Framework for the mod. I've enabled and deployed the mod in Simple Mod Framework.

I've installed the ZHMSDK mod that it also requires, and when I open the game, the menu for it appears in the top right for a few seconds, but nothing is clickable. Then it flashes rapidly before dissapearing permanently.

The hotkey to open it does nothing but show the cursor.

I've changed my resolutions settings, I've turned off HDR, I've turned off G-SYNC, V-sync is off. The github talks about a mods.ini folder that is put into the game's Retail folder, but no file like that exists.
It doesn't come with the mod so I don't know what they're talking about

Can anyone help me?

Maybe if you post on the Hitman forum (hitmanforum.com) you might get more response and guidance. STEAM isn't much up to speed with mods.

No worries, not having a workshop in STEAM decrease the exposure for the modding community to interact. Hitmanforum seems to be the best place atm. Also, prolific modders post their mod news over there so you might get a better chance.
Having said that, feel free to post here as well, you never know who's reading the forum.

Came across this while googling, did you manage to ever get this fixed please? I have the exact same issue, just can't bring the menu up apart from seeing it rapidly flashes for a second or two

hi no i did not. the feature seems to be just broken or it only works under some specific condition that i dont know

the hitman forum didnt ever respond to me so i can assume the people who can solve stuff like this are now inactive or dont care

I seem to be able to occassionally access the menu at the very first page when game starts, when it says press enter to play, like if lucky get 1 or 2 clicks in while the menu is flashing rapidly, but it's all luck and takes many tries, once in the main game menu it's completely hopeless, not sure if it helps you a little

You should read the page of where you got the mod from (Nexus) before commenting, it says:

Some people can not get the SDK menu working in game... I don’t know how to help them. They might have a weird OS or weird version of the game (Xbox/Microsoft). It MIGHT be possible for you to manually enabled the mod by going to retail/mods.ini and adding the following to the bottom:[freelancervariations]
