Instead of mainlining one map until maxing mastery, mix it up and come back from time to time and do it that way to avoid feeling like you are grinding.
If you get bored, move on to another map, then go back later if you want.
The "easiest" way to get mastery levels up on different maps is in my opinion mission stories, challenges, exploring the maps, finding random challenges.
Sure you can reload save and complete multiple assassination challenges in one run, or watch youtube videos to grind XP, but I don't recommend it if you want to enjoy the game.
Just play through the campaign, focus on the rewards that will make it easier to complete challenges such as lethal poison pills/vial, lethal poison syringe, emetic poison syringe, silenced sniper rifles, Sieker 1 (emetic dartgun), etc etc.
Right now theres also currently 2 active elusive targets, you can try them in arcade mode first, they are called "The Infiltrators" and "The Provocateurs", the lvl 2 contracts are the elusive targets that are currently live.
These elusive targets or arcade hits have no marker on the target (red in focus mode), so you'll have to actually use the intel provided and ID the target.
Once you complete an objective or kill any of the targets you cant replan or restart, so be careful.
On Arcade you have to wait 12 hours before you can replay if you fail.
With Elusive Targets you have to wait until next year to kill the same target if you fail.
Maybe its just me, but finding out how to get away with the perfect hit is a lot more rewarding than following some guide, and will give you a lot more content or bang for your buck.
I used to play on PS4 but moved on to PC, so I'm basically redoing the whole game, I've only reached mastery lvl 20 on maybe half the maps, if that.
My focus has been on getting the good looking suits, briefcases, silenced sniper rifles, poisons, tools etc etc.
Well for me getting all 83 achievos is a must....so getting 20/20 on very mission in hitman 1 is a must(not sure about 2 or 3)
the tips and advice given by you and others in this thread will greatly reduce the number of play-throughs on each level and the time it takes to 83
i will certainly follow these great suggestions and hopefully ill get all 83 before i die of old age
Well, even still, if you first focus on getting some of the rewards it should make your life easier.
F.ex. using a silenced sniper for the sniper assassin challenges is gonna blow your cover a lot less, lethal poison syringe will let you poison targets who doesn't consume food or drinks, same approach with emetic syringe if you want them to visit a bathroom.
my system is to first complete the main mission
then do all of the Escalations and then the challenges
the escalations in Paris and Sapienzia werent too hard for me but then things went straight down hill in Marrakesh
escalations called for wearing bizarre and hard to find suits(outfits) ,,making kills in all sorts of ungodly and complicated ways
after completing one set of 5 and only getting 4000 pts ...i gave up on the escalations and went for the challenges
what a huge difference in the difficulty level of the escalations between Paris-Sapienzia and Marrakesh
hopefully the escalation contracts on the remaining maps wont be so hard
i leave to prepare
Reaching lvl 20 shouldn't take too long, and you don't have to finish the mission to clock in the XP, just don't get reckless or impatient, or you will screw and likely have to redo things.
Are the 7 locations for this DLC part of the regular locations or brand new cities?
if regular cities will completing the dlc add experience pts towards the 20/20 requirement?
i am enjoying the main missions of each city but getting to 20/20 is just a chore for me..
basically to get 1 achievement (20/20 Mastery at any given city) you have to play through several more hrs in each city to rack up exp. pts ..and instead of getting multiple achievements for making it to 20-20 you get 1 ....
time for me to take a break and play a different game for awhile..
i leave to unprepare..
Like I said before, you can play other maps and come back to the previous levels with new rewards that could make your life easier.
An additional thing with Silent Assassin. If your target sees you, and you kill them before they can alert anyone else, then you'll restore Silent Assassin rating. They can even see a body and, as long as you kill them before they go running to anyone, you can restore your Silent Assassin rating.
Futhermore, lethal poison and accident kills will not invalidate Silent Assassin if the body is found but only if you do NOT move the body. Wouldn't be surprised if shooting the body would also end up invalidating Silent Assassin if it is found.
