Hard to say with so little info.
You should run some memtests/diagnostics also.
And generally post more info about your machine. OS, gpu, etc...all of it + the settings you run your game at.
Your infos could imply hardware defects to just graphics settings that are unrealistic for your machine.
So please post infos about:
- all your hardware + os
- game settings you run at
- does your whole machine freeze or just the game
- has it ever happened before
- just this game, or others
- when did that happen for the first time
- did this game run fine to a point
...whatever comes to your mind.
I- use a MSI GL65 Leopard Laptop, I operate it on windows 10
The Specs for it are: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, with a processor of Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10300H CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz, and 16 GB of Ram.
- The game only freezes, everything else is functional. And it's only Hitman 3 that does this.
- The first time this occured was when i bought this game a couple days ago on sale, and it still happens frequently.
- Hitman 3 does run fine after countless attempts of Alt-F4'ing until it runs into another issue, like yesterday I accidentally took cover on a exit on Miami after finishing a challenge and the game froze completely.
- V-Sync is off, HDR is Off, Nvidia Reflex Low Latency is On, DLSS Frame is Off, Adaptive SuperSampling is Off, Level of Detail is Medium, Texture Quality is High, Anisotropic 16x, SSAO Medium, Shadow Quality is High, Mirrors and Reflection are set at Medium, Variable Rate Shading is on Quality, Motion Blur is Low, And Simulation Quality is at Base
If yes, put everything back to factory standard and try to run the game again.
Also you could try the following:
- try running steam in admin mode and play the game
- or/and start the game from the local directory (also in admin mode)
- try different settings --> play on low for a while (could be that your gpu overheats on your curent settings)
- completely re-install your drivers
- run memtests/diagnostics if you haven't already on ALL your drives and ram (could be an error in your hardware --> when something specific gets read out, a software can freeze)
- install the game to another directory
- reinstall steam + the game
- if all doesn't do anything:
-- fresh windows install (format c: is up to you)
-- fresh steam install
-- fresh drivers, game, etc...
Try to work progressively through that list and report back! Good luck!
- Reinstalling Steam and Hitman 3 did not prevent the freezing.
- Updating my drivers did not work
- Admin mode for Steam and Hitman did not work.
I've yet to try the other methods provided
